Post your CADs vs the finished ring!

Love the cushion, too!

I had the post on my cushion deleted as I realized I had posted the inspiration ring as the final ring that DK made by mistake. So here are the correct photos.

Such a great thread!

@ILikeShiny - This is a great thread idea that I keep coming back to. Not to take away from this thread but I was wondering if ya'll also could include (or if easier to start another one) the wax model if there was one provided? Would love to see how close the wax model was to the finished product! Appreciate your help!

I think very few people have wax models from either DK or Caysie because their CADs and previous pieces are so accurate that they just aren't necessary. But that's a great idea for people to post them if they have them.

Here's my opal ring made by DK. I had a hard time deciding which way to set the opal. I really wanted it set horizontally, but I was afraid it would look odd. David graciously offered to make me a model to help me make up my mind. I'm deliriously happy with the finished product (though I wish I remembered to put lotion on before I took these pictures)

@Lookinagain -

I didn't realize this was yours!! I loved it when I saw it on DKJ's instagram - what a beautiful ring!

I'm so pleased to know who owns this. This is such a stunning piece - and the pave around the edge is just gorgeous. A lovely clean design! Can I ask where you sourced that amazing opal?

Thank you! I can't quit staring at it. It changes a lot in different lighting and it's mesmerizing. I bought the opal from Jim McCormick during his holiday sale last December. I can never pass up a good markdown.=)

OMG I think I'm in love with your opal! so beautiful

Thanks so much, mrs-b. I actually think David did a great job on this ring and it came out just as I hoped. The changes made from the inspiration ring really made me love it more and it is very wearable as the profile is low. It's a great ring to pair with my e/w marquise (posted above) on the other hand.

OOoh I'll play. My CADs were super plain- all the details were in the engraving!! When she sent this to me, Caysie reassured me that 1. it will look a million times better with the engraving and 2. that coloured stones and rose gold don't render well in general... I just went with it and trusted her.

Look at the difference!!

Wow...that is lovely and what a difference. It's beautiful and I hope you enjoy it for many years!

I finally get to contribute to this thread! I’m amazed at how some CADs look quite close to their finished counterparts while others take quite a bit of imagination to envision. I’m due to pick this up tomorrow (Yay!!), so these finished photos are fresh from the bench where it was made:

We are in production Here is a quick picture of the cad. It is for a rose cut oval diamond that does not translate into the computer model. Included is a picture of my rose cut as well. I am so excited for this! image2.JPG20161117_165453.jpg

Just got my ring today and I'll probably be going through the design process again to make a thinner, smaller design. The CAD looked great and I figured it just looked thick because it's CAD, but the finished ring is way thicker, wider, and heavier than I was hoping for and my small hands don't help. I'll wear it for a week and see if I feel better about it then, but if not- back to the drawing board!

Who made this? So gorgeous
