My 8 month old grandson is in Critical condition in the Pediatric ICU at Balboa Naval Hospital.
My DIL took him ot the ER at Camp Pendleton thinking he had the flu (fever, vomiting and diarrhea). They ran a bunch of tests that all came back normal and were preparing to discharge him when out of nowhere he had a horrible seizure that lasted over an hour. The docs were working frantically on him and gave him anti-seizure meds, but he went into cardiac arrest on four different occassions and they had to use the paddles four different times.
He stopped breathing as well and his left side appeared to be paralyzed. They intubated him, sedated him and then immediately airlifted him to Balboa where he has been ever since.
Right now, baby Lukah is still in Critical condition and they do not know what is wrong with him. They have done all kinds of tests but are not finding anything. He is no longer intubated, and they are beginning to bring him out of sedation to see how he responds. Their main concern now is to get his heart rate under control. His little heart is beating way too fast. My son was away in Texas for training, so had not seen the baby for two months, but when he arrived at the hospital last night, even though Lukah was sedated, as soon as he heard his daddy''s voice his little heart started racing at over 200 beats per minute. He is now hovering around 170-180 and the doctors are saying it should be aroud 120. They are still running tests.
I am at the airport now waiting for a flight to San Diego. For all you prayer warriors and those who believe in the power of positive thoughts, please keep our little guy in your thoughts and prayers!
