Kay - Thanks for the awesome review of the Uppa Baby Vista. I still need to take my DH to check it out. He''s not too thrilled about getting that expensive of a stroller, but I am hoping it will win him over with all the features. Plus, I think my mom is leaning toward buying the stroller for us, so that may solve the money issue

another question--has anyone ordered from babycatalog.com? They have some good prices (limited choices though) and a ''club'' with extra discounts. Just want to make sure it''s a decent/legit business since I''m considering it..
I made a couple of large purchases (including stroller and crib mattress) from babycatalog.com. I even had a registry with them, although most of our family preferred BRU (with its higher prices) because of familiarity. The items arrived quickly and in perfect condition, and customer service was friendly when I called with questions before ordering.

You''re welcome. Alexis is 5 months old now, and we just love this stroller every time we use it.
I forgot to mention, but one of my favorite features is that the baby sits up a bit higher than in most strollers, so she is closer to me, not down next to the ground. DH and I are both tall, and it is nice not to have to lean way over. If she gets hungry, I can feed her a bottle with one hand while pushing the stroller with the other. In restaurants, we pull the stroller up next to the table and she is at table height, so we can watch her, play with her, and feed her easily.

I hope you get it as a gift.

For those who are looking for an umbrella check TJ Maxx. Mine had a Volo for $75 (usually $100-125). 25% + off is nice plus it is a great umbrella.

Okay, so I''m still under the weather (I have bronchitis), but Nate took the twins with him this morning and he said it steers excellently. So, if he likes it then I''m pretty sure I will.

penn, sorry you are still sick! Hope you get better fast. Yay for Nate liking the BOB.

thanks kay! i just joined b/c they had the lowest price on a item I purchased--and figured the club might come in handy at some point. Wish I could split it with someone though since you can add up to 3 members.

anyway-how''ve you been??

Me too Janine! Kay told me about babycatalog- I used them as a second registry. the ppl who buy you gifts there get 10 percent off too, so I was into that. It''s true most ppl preferred the bru registry. I received my car seat from there and bought my stroller there too!

CALLING CURLYGIRL -

I think I remember that you have the Phil and Ted sport. Hubby and I played around with it some today, and when I pushed it around with the lower seat on I kept kicking it accidentally - is this something that either you or your husband have had problems with? Do you just learn to walk in such a way that you don''t kick it, or does this just mean that I should go for something else? Also, does it work for running? I tried to test it out, but something about being 38 weeks pregnant kind of got in my way.

Just wanted to post a recommendation to new mommies looking to have their baby sleep in their room with them: Get a white noise machine! We have an old Timex Nature Sounds alarm clock that has 3 white noise settings (waves, a babbling brook, and forest sounds like an owl and crickets) and it has been very helpful! I always hated sleeping with any noise before the baby was born but now I think it''s great. I leave it on all night so that when DH or I get up to feed the baby, the other one can keep sleeping since the white noise largely drowns out the baby''s cries. There''s also a timed sleep setting that you can use if you only want to hear it as you go to sleep which is helpful since without it, I know I would be listening to the baby breathing and she can be very noisy. I find that I only really get woken up when she''s making enough noise to indicate that she''s uncomfortable.

Another item I''ve found helpful are Munchkin Changing Pads (from Target). They''re these disposable pads that have saved me from having to wash my changing pad on numerous occasions. I leave one out on the changing table and dispose of it whenever she makes a mess mid-diaper change. I''ve gotten good at changing her quickly but she still likes to try to pee or poop once she''s naked! They sell them in a larger version which I bought and then cut down to size since they''re less expensive that way.

Other things I''ve found helpful that have already been listed on this thread are:
fisher price swing
miracle blanket
medela pump in style pump
arms reach co-sleeper
eye-mask for when you''re napping with the baby during the day and at the hospital since they often need to keep a light on at night to see you and the baby

The BOB is wonderful. Thanks again Tgal and Tacori.

Yay Penn! Glad you like it. I bet the twins look stylish too!

So I have been noticing that some high end strollers don''t have baskets!

I wouldn''t use a stroller that was FREE w/o one.

Glad you are pleased PQ! Never met a person who didn''t love his BOB.

Another quick question on PNP/Travel cribs (Tgal and Tacori): Do you find your PeaPod, Combi or Graco PNP are too close to the floor (when sleeping in the lower portion)? Thanks girls..

Hi guys! I posted a while back that I was going to order the Micralite Fastfold Newborn System from mamabargains and I was having it shipped to my parents (wanted to surprise DH with it). Thought I''d post an update. We were there this past weekend and put it all together and I just have to say it is FABULOUS! Seriously steers like a dream, is very well-made, folds/unfolds so easily, and the carrycot is adorable and very high-quality. I don''t have a baby to put in it yet, but so far, I just love it. I will say that the basket below is pretty small and not very easily accessible, but for the other perks, I don''t care. It is super light-weight, stands when folded, and folds down really compactly- all features that were very important to me for ease of getting in/out of the car for us and the grandparents. One great surprise: I thought we were getting the older model because the as just said "Micralite Fastfold Newborn System", but when it arrived it was actually the NEW model that has a larger carrycot, which is actually the "Micralite Fastfold Newborn+ System". Major bonus! I was so excited because that''s what I really wanted but didn''t want to miss out on the great deal. I already bought the Maxi-Cosi carseat from BabyGap, so we''ll be able to use it as a snap-n-go when we want. As much of a sucker as I am for the carrycot, I respect all the advice you moms have given that a snap-n-go is the way to go when baby is sleeping happily in the carseat! Anyhoo, as NeatFreak pointed out, mamabargains has this stroller every so often, so if anyone is interested I would highly recommend it! (Did I mention it was only $199?!?!? I''ve seen it on the internet for up to $579!)

natalina, yeah, that microlite always seemed like a great deal on mamabargains. It seems ongoing? Thanks for the review!

janinegirly, not sure what you mean? The peapod is pretty much ON the floor, save for a bit of height the airmattress gives. I don''t use the PnP yet....

Do any mommies have suggestions on brands for exersaucers (activity centers)? Baby Einstein vs. Evenflo vs. Fisher Price, etc?

I''ve decided on the Baby Einstein Activity Center--but now I''m back with a new question!
emwink.gif

Any thoughts on outdoor swings/swing sets for 9 month old age group and what brands? Is it too young? You can tell I just moved to the ''burbs...

Sorry Janine that I can''t be of more help. I have no backyard, plus Amelia used the jumperoo. Hopefully others will chime in!

Tayva also had the jumeroo.

As for the swing, last summer we used one like this on a tree in our back yard. She LOVED it!

thanks girls! liking the swing burk...gotta check and see if we have a suitable tree. Tgal: I never had a backyard either, only concrete--so this is actually kind of a whole new world for me!

janine~no problem! We need to get her swing back up now that the weather is turning. We''ll need some pics of Miss Chloe in her swing!

hi, just wanted to update on recent purchases I made since I''m always asking for help!

Travel Crib: Feel guilty, but I splurged and got the Baby Bjorn Travel Lite. I got it from babycatalog.com for far less than other sites. Still overpriced though. It is extremely convenient, lightweight, easy to open/close in one shot and packs up neatly. Mattress seems comfy. One thing I''m not crazy about is it is practically on the ground. I like for the baby to be somewhat suspended (like the PNP''s are). But then this is what keeps it lightweight. I have 30 days to change my mind, so we''ll see.

Exersaucer: Went with Baby Einstein. She can''t touch the ground, but I put a blanket and she seems to really enjoy it. I can see how it might lead to sensory overload, but she needed to move on to a stage past the Activity Mat. I still wonder if I should have opted for a jumperoo (Rainforest), but I can always pick that up for Grandma''s..but right now I''m not leaning that way.

2nd Stroller: this was my best purchase of the three. Went with a Maclaren Quest, 2008 model. Love it and great companion to my Bugaboo! Haven''t test driven it outside the house, but it is snazzy and easy. I bought it at a bargain from babye-store. com. Warning, I was VERY hesitant since there is no customer service, site looks amateur etc. But did some reasearch and called Maclaren, and they are in fact an authorized retailer. So I took a chance.

Next is high chair (will post what I end up getting) and various toys. Anyone familiar with LeapFrog Musical Table or FP Litle Superstar Singalong? Maybe it''s overill with the exersaucer, but she loves music, and I want her to develop posture outside of an exersaucer too.

Is the FP Little Superstar Singalong the one with the mirror? I am prettythat the one we have for M. She likes it, but they isn''t a lot to do on it. Lately she''s been trying to pull her self up on it, and it''s scary b/c it''s so light and can tip over. She loves looking at herself in the mirror a lot though. I think it''s a good purchase since I paid half the retail price. I think LF music table has more activity, but I never looked into one.

exersaucer: evenflo. Get ones with lots of toys. Seriously.

Also, she STILL plays with the LF table. Loves it.

Hey ladies-

Trying to register.

1. Question about strollers:

Which umbrella stroller do you all recommend? I''ve been told Maclaren, but which style? Quest, Triumph, etc? Looked at the differences online, but can''t really see much difference.

For reference: my parents bought us a BOB jogging stroller and I''ve registered for a snap-n-go type stroller. I was going to wait on the umbrella stroller, but a friend suggested I go ahead and register for it.

Going back to read this thread again, but any quick responses would be great!!!!

2. Also- any comments about crib mattresses? Any you love or hate?

Thanks in advance!

All the Maclarens are great. If you plan on using it as a main stroller I would get a Quest or Triumph. If you are just going to use it for quick jaunts, etc. the Volo is great. We have the twin triumph and LOVE it.

China cat, here are the main differences...

The volo does not recline, but it is the lightest.

The triumph does recline, but does not have an extended footrest (very nice for the little ones.)

The Quest has the extended footrest and the reclining mechanism is different from the triumph. It''s a 4 point recline with definite stops. I can''t remember how the triumph reclines, so check both of them out to see which recline style you like better. The quest is the heaviest but I don''t find it cumbersome at all.

Amelia is 1 year old and 32 inches tall and I still use the footrest which is great. It''s especially useful for the younger ones when used alongside the recline for a more comfy sleep.

I think pretty much everything else is the same. You''ll get great handling with all three as they are pretty much the same (if not exactly so) in that regard.

Thank you, Neat and TGal!!!!!!

Love my volo. No recline is not much of an issue with me since it is not my only stroller.
