Someone earlier asked about slings - George has never been able to stand the cradle position, and I found it hard to do tummy-to-tummy in a hotsling style sling. I like my ring sling more, but now that George is big enough and has good enough neck control to use him in the Ergo without the insert, I just pop him in that if I need something that''s quick to put on.
Ditto. Hutner liked it for about a month then HATED it! Loves the upright position! The soft carrier also splays his legs out.

This past week we took our little guy swimming for the first time and I bought this Spring Float. It was wonderful! Parker is only 5 1/2 months old so of course we had to stabilize him in there some but with the canopy to keep him out the the sun it was a blessing. He was a riot! I really didn''t think at this age he''d really care to be in the water but with the pool being heated I think he thought it was just a really big bath!

thanks for the heads up on this item. I ordered it for my 8 mo old son!

I''m not sure if this has been dicussed already or not, since I didn''t have time look back through the 27 pages, but does anybody have any experience with the Angel Care baby monitors? My MIL really wants to buy us one, but I told her I''d like to do some research on them first and see if I really think it''s necessary.

Some people really like them-personally I think they are unnecessary unless your child has reflux issues or other problems that make it necessary to keep an eye on them. We have just a regular old monitor and it works fine.

Okay...desperation calls...

Daisy is just not going to sleep during the day, and I am getting bored with bouncing her up and down on my knee for hours on end, so the time has come for me to ''wear'' this child so I can get things done during the day around the house...

The Bjorn is fine for outside, but it''s a front carrier and so no good at home.

I''m looking for a very lightweight back carrier that is also secure for a small baby. It needs to be comfortable to wear and not too hard on my back so good back support is useful.

The beco looks really good - and I can get it in the UK, but just wondering if there are any others that I should consider!

Another recommendation for the Ergo baby carrier. I borrowed a Bjorn from a friend (not the active - the regular) and I found it was hurting my back after a half hour or so. I can wear him in the Ergo for much, much longer. Sometimes he even falls asleep in there! For young babies it can be used as a front carrier, and when they get older you can carry them on your hip or back. It is the only way I can get anything done at home, too!

Just posting about a new organic baby food that my little guy loves...it''s called JACK''S HARVEST. This is the second brand he''s tried and just LOVES this. Just wanted to give a heads up to the moms out there that may be interested. I purchased it through amazon.

For anyone interested in a organic crib mattress...Costco has one for $109 ($20 off for a limited time). I have this mattress and it''s wonderful. My son sleeps soundly on it. It has 2 sides (an infant side and a toddler side). Also the warranty will outlast the child (many children).

Hello mommies. I am not preggo or TTC yet but I would like to start preparing for future baby by doing my research. I read the last 28 pages and it was very informative. I plan on living in the suburbs so I would like to get some recommendations for strollers. I think I would go with a SNG but what other stroller should I be thinking about?

Thanks atroop! What''s the difference on the sides?

Anyone have a baby monitor they love? I don''t think we need too many bells and whistles (no video). I saw NF''s comment on the Angel Care- is that the one with the mat that goes under the mattress? I just don''t know where to begin, but know that the last thing we want is to find out once the baby is here that reception sucks, we can hear the neighbors, etc.

nat - i did a lot of research on monitors (non video) and had the same concerns.... the monitor i registered for was the Safety 1st High Definition Digital Monitor. the reviews were great and it''s *supposed* to be really wonderful if you live close to your neighbors to avoid interference.

for a video monitor .. everyone recommends the summer infant.

I have the summers video monitor and love it...hanheld so I can carry it all over the house.

Viz- the monitor you registered for is actually the one I''m leaning towards. Seems to have great reviews. Thanks!

NYC- do you find that the video feature is really useful? I''m just wondering if it''s worth the extra $

natalina~I was in the "is a video monitor really worth it" camp and ended up getting the regular monitor I registered for and it worked just fine I thought. BUT, a few months ago (T was maybe 15 months) I ended up purchasing a video monitor. She''s a light, restless sleeper and there were times I think I''d go in there when she really wasn''t ready to get up. Now that I can see that yes, she''s fussing, but she''s still laying down I let her be and I think we''ve both gotten more sleep!

LOVE my video monitor. I had the angel care monitor when she was younger. Then splurged on the video recently and think it is wonderful. My DD is a light sleeper so I love spying on her without chance of waking her.

We have this monitor (Safety 1st) and it''s GREAT. We just moved from a very high density downtown area and we never had any interference. And it''s really nice because you can turn the sound off but the lights still get brighter and dimmer when they cry so you still can see it even if you don''t want to hear it!

I find the video the most useful ! Just as others said...my son makes soooo much noise when he is sleeping and I don''t want to be in there every 5 mins..I also see his positioning..and its so cool watching them..sometimes they are almost talking into the camera...priceless.

I need some toy suggestions without having to dig through 28 pages...

Kyle will be 6 months next week, and has really started diving for the TV remote. I think it''s all the buttons and bright colors. Any good baby toys that look somewhat like a remote? I''m thinking something with buttons that make different noises/music. Even something similar to a cell phone shape would work. I haven''t gone out and looked much, but all we fould at WalMart last night was one shaped like car keys, and it was a little bigger than I want.

Thank you!

Hi everyone. I live in downtown Boston and am starting to look at strollers because I will probably have a baby shower a little earlier than most (probably around 29 weeks) because I have to fly to CA for it.

Boston is great, but the 18th century charm is annoying when you realize it equals narrow sidewalks, doorways, and hallways.

Does anyone have a Phil and Ted''s (especially the sport)? What''re your thoughts. Supposedly the handle was the biggest turn-off but now the new one has an adjustable handle. I like it because of the doubles feature. I have a feeling that we''ll end up having two little ones close together and we aren''t looking to be the 5 stroller family.

So, lemme know if you''re a Phil and Ted''s lover (or hater).

Thanks!

Find a remote that isn''t being used, and even that probably won''t do. Babies have some kind of weird radar - they only want remotes that are real and live. Toys? Not gonna fool them.

Amelia totally wanted my blackberry all the time. I got a new one so I took the SIM out of the old one and turned the radio off. She was no longer interested.

Basically, they want what they can''t have.

SO SO true. My boys are obsessed with remotes and cell phones. We just gave them a few old ones but they still aren''t as satisfying as the real thing.

for those who have video monitors is it like a little webcam you attach somewhere? i was looking at these and wondering if it was really necessary, but then i thought well if we don't have to go in there every 2 seconds in the first few months while we familiarize ourselves with noises and what they mean, it would be helpful.

on the stroller, i am still torn on what to do so either we'll prob get the Bee since greg can get it for points for free through work or just a snap and go to start and figure it out later. i am burnt out on strollers for now.

Mara~Yep, there''s just a little camera that you can either set on a table or something or you can mount it on the wall. You can adjust where the camera points and zoom in/out from the hand held viewing part which is really nice. I really like my video monitor and wish I would have gotten one earlier.

angel care monitor has the lights too so I can turn the volume off and the lights will indicate if she is crying and how loud it is (there are maybe 5 off of memory). I actually still use it as my audio monitor. For some reason I am not loving using my Summer monitor for audio but love the video. I even brought it with us to my parents b/c it is SO helpful to know if she is really awake or not. For those of you who have a Kohl''s charge card they often have deals/promos/coupons so I got mine through them online for a decent price.

I''ll thritto Tgal and Neat. We bought a few toy phones and remotes for London, she played with them, but it was still a constant battle to keep the real ones away from her. Same with phones. Toy phones, nope, even real ones that we didn''t use-she knew which were the "good ones". It''s like little kid radar.

We have the same problem. Alexis loves grabbing the remotes and pushing the buttons -- she has turned the TV off or changed channels several times, and has screwed up the settings a few times (it''s fun trying to guess what she pushed so we can undo it). We tried giving her old remotes for components we no longer use, but they only fooled her for a few minutes. She sees us using the other ones, and she wants the remotes we use. She also loves cell phones, cameras, my digital alarm clock, basically anything shiny or with lights and buttons. She also likes hitting the power button on the X-box, which has made her very popular a couple of times.

cello - i have the sport buggy w/ the doubles kit that i got for a STEAL on albee baby. it's lime green, but heck.. it saved us almost $170 from buying the black one :) (and i happen to like green).

anyhoo... i'm fairly tall 5'9" and thought the handles were the perfect height both DH and me. we plan on using this stroller for our 'pedestrian friendly-around-town' source of transportation. we also got a maclaren volo for trips to the mall/basic ease of use (i.e. getting the thing in and out of the car.)

generally speaking, you shouldn't use the volo until they are around 6mths old b/c it doesn't recline. however, maclaren does make an umbrella that reclines, but our plan was to use the baby carrier until he is old enough for the volo. and that's it.. 2 strollers for the life of the kid!

what is great about the phil and teds is the full recline so you CAN put an infant in either the front or back seat (when needed). that was a HUGE selling point for me. i know some ppl have complained that it doesn't have a cup holder, and that there isn't a 'snack' tray for the kid, but the basket underneath is really big.

i think deciding the top three most important features to YOU is what your deciding factor will be. i found it almost impossible to find a stroller that had *everything*.... mine were: full recline for naps and infants, convertible to hold two children, air inflated 3 wheel design, cost effective.

hope that helps.

oh, i also got the maxi cosi micro for $109 from albee baby.

my thoughts initially:

i love the fabric... it seems a lot more breathable than some of the ballistic nylon inserts on some other seats.
the handle is really easy to move up and down and is comfortable to hold (i put a bag of sugar in the seat to simulate a baby.)
the actual seat base is sleek and the carrier is so much lighter than most others that i tried out.
i wish the hood was a little larger - it covers about half of the seat.
seems like it will be easy to install in the car and to change the strap height, although we have yet to do this.
i like the plastic puzzle lock buckle - reassuring to know that it''s ''right'' when you hear the click. also, no metal means i won''t have to worry about it getting too hot and burning baby.

cello, neatfreak is right--I have the Phil & Teds Sport and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! I honestly can't say enough good things about it and the fact that you are planning to have 2 children close together makes this a no-brainer! It is honestly an amazing stroller for one and even more fabulous for 2. We live in NYC so we see tons of these strollers since they are so streamlined and easy to maneuver in our city. I never worry about squeezing through elevators, doorways, aisles in the supermarket or deli. In a traditional side by side stroller, I would be struggling with all the tight spaces I have to deal with but not with the P&T. I highly recommend it for the kind of lifestyle you are talking about, cello. And compared to other high end strollers, the price is great. My husband is a foot taller than I am and we have no issues with the handle. We really have no issues with the stroller at all! We have it in black and simply love it!!! Vizsla brings up a lot of the positives of this stroller. I think I wrote a detailed review somewhere in this thread but I'll just summarize by saying that if you buy it, you won't be disappointed!
