Preggo stuff, Baby Stuff, Toddler Stuff...post your best finds here!!

I''m not sure if this has been talked about before, but can someone recommend a good overnight diaper? I have tried the Pampers Baby Dry, and he still wets through them. I am really not wanting to find him in a puddle every morning anymore, and having to change his sheet every day is a pain. TIA.

We use Huggies overnight and rarely have an issue....I do go up a size in the overnights though....so if he''s a 3 during the day, try a 4 at night...works for us!

I tried the Pampers overnights and the Huggies version, and liked the Pampers best (even though I use Huggies during the day). I have to go up two sizes though, he wears a 3 during the day and a 5 at night.

Thanks CDT and Mustang!

I tried the Pampers, but I was using the same size as during the day, so maybe that was my problem. Right now he wears a 2-3 Swaddler during the day, so should I get him a size 3 or a size 4 for the overnights?

Ladies...
Can you help me out with convertible car seats?
Is Britax the way to go?...if so, which one? diapers.com has a bunch of them on sale, but that doesn''t mean the price is good!...

Can you help me out with convertible car seats?

Is Britax the way to go?...if so, which one? diapers.com has a bunch of them on sale, but that doesn't mean the price is good!...

It's so confusing! I researched the heck out of that purchase because I figured we'd be using the seat EVERY DAY and I wanted a good one! I found great prices on albeebaby.

Basically, Britax makes a group of smaller seats (Roundabout, Diplomat) and then larger seats (Marathon, Blvd). You can check the dimensions on their website's comparison chart.

I got the Britax Diplomat. The Diplomat is the same as Roundabout with some extra head support and side impact padding. I got the Diplomat because I found it about the same price as Roundabout and liked the pattern better (plus, more padding is a good thing!)

Then there is the Marathon which is a bigger seat and accomodates a bigger child. The Boulevard is the same seat but with the extra head padding. I figured that we'd eventually need a booster seat anyway, and our son is not huge on weight or height, so I wasn't too worried about him outgrowing the Roundabout (or Diplomat) faster than the Marathon (or Diplomat). Also, my car is not huge, and I am glad not to have an even bigger carseat taking up room - especially while he's rear facing. I have a medium size car and I am pretty tall, and I can just barely get my seat back far enough without hitting the carseat. I don't know how a tall person would manage with a small car and rear facing carseat but I guess there is a way.

I also have a Maxi Cosi priori in DH's car. It's fine too, and we got a great price on it. There is nothing wrong with the Priori, I just like the Britax better. I find the Priori more difficult to buckle and unbuckle our son, and DH said it was more of a pain to install and is more of a pain to adjust than the Britax.

I like that the Britax has some thoughtful details. Easy to adjust the straps using a knob. Velcro holds the straps out of the way so you don't have to dig under the kid's butt to try and find the strap. Also, so comfy with all the padding - wish my own seat were as comfy!

Thank you!!! That sounds great!!! Now as far as prices, what is a good deal?

Here''s a cost comparison on a few different car seats. The format is weird because I''m C&P from an EXCEL spreadsheet that I have. We still haven''t decided which car seat to get. Here''s a link where a couple of moms put together reviews as well.

The costs are MSRP. You can find them on sale in different websites as well as use coupons.

I''d go with either the 3 or the 4 for the overnight diapers. Sophia is in a size 3 diapers but we use Huggies overnight size 4.

Has anoyone dealt with the issue of finding a contour changing pad that ISN'T 32in or longer?

Not a single store, in our area, carries these in stock.

This CHANGING PAD looks nice and is 30". You''ll probably have to order one online. Most stores seem to carry 32 or 34". Good luck!

Thanks Pupp! I''m ordering it right now! lol

It looks quite comfy, doesn''t it?

mere...i remember on amazon that LA Baby had like all these diff sizes of changing pads as well.

i never bought one since i didn''t know if we needed it, and then we got a changing table from amazon to keep in our family room since we never even used his nursery for the first month, and it came with a thin pad on it, so we just put waterproof cloths on it. i am so lazy hhaha plus i figure we will only use the table for a little while longer. he is much easier to just change wherever now than when he was new.

Mara- I''m the same as you... I figure any flat surface is perfectly fine for changing a diaper. lol

The only reason we even bought a changing table is because Ikea has one for $75, and like you, we may move it around a bit.

random good use for a changing table after it no longer is useful as a changing table... the one we got from amazon is like some basic cherry sleigh one with open sides and shelves. it just barely should fit in J''s closet based on dimensions so we plan to put it in there and whala extra storage for blankets, towels etc as it is basically three open shelves with the top one being the deeper changing table part. it was only $69 at amazon. we love it!

re: STROLLER SHOPPING. i wanted to come back in and update since i''ve put a lot of posts in here hemming and hawing about strollers! finally today, we went and sought out a Bumbleride Indie in person. i still can''t believe i had to travel like 45 miles to see one considering how big our city is. anyway... we ended up getting one in Lava (grey and black). i was torn between something like the BOB for it''s ruggedness and something that was more fun and cute but maybe not as durable or as good for long walks on potentially rough roads. plus it pains me to spend $400 on something that i don''t totally love the look of. i like purses and shoes, of course i want something cute as well as useful hehe.

so Mandarine mentioned the Bumble in a post as an option, and i had never heard of it before. after reading about it, it seemed ideal. 20 lbs, real air filled tires, some light suspension, newborn to toddler, and pretty chic looking, 3 wheeler. long story short, it seems perfect for us. seeing it in person, it wheels and handles like a dream. we put J in it and he was chillin'' out and seemed happy in it. i love the swivel wheel, it moves like butter. and it folds up really easy and can be carried with one hand for me... also it fits in our small trunk of our A3 with room for groceries or other things on the other side of it. i don''t even have to remove the trunk cover thing that hides whatever is in the trunk..it''s not even that tall when folded down. the new 2010''s are almost $500 i think but we got a 2009 closeout for $419. anyway, for anyone considering something that they want to do light jogging or strenuous walking with but also can navigate store aisles and fit in a smallish trunk...i totally recommend the Indie so far.

oh and it also comes with rain cover, air pump, and car seat adapter, which a lot of other brands make you buy separately. aka city mini comes bare bones and adapter is $30 and rain cover is $30 etc etc. so in the end a $250 or $300 stroller could be $400 anyway.

when i asked the salesguy, who was pretty knowledgeable which is part of the reason we bought from this local store and not online where i could have spend $50 less, what his thoughts were re considering BOB vs Bumble he said that BOB was easier to clean and more rugged for extreme outdoors activities, whereas the Indie was supposed to be ''mainstream'' but able to handle a bit more of a rugged lifestyle as well. also he said he thought that the seat on the Indie was better than the BOB, in terms of comfort for the kids. it is padded which is nice and i don''t htink the BOB is.

anyway THANKS to everyone who chimed in with ideas or suggestions!! we FINALLY have a stroller! i am so excited to use it.

i attached the stock pic for anyone who doesn''t know what it looks like. it is still a big stroller but i like it!

Mandy - If you are interested in Britax, remember that they have sales a few times a year. February, June I think??, and September maybe?? If you go to http://babycheapskate.com/ and in her search box type "britax 2010", the first result is her list of sale prices that were available this last February.

When do you think your boys are going to need to make the carseat switch??

Mara, I''m so glad you liked the Indie! We''re really happy with ours so far and like the "cuteness" factor too (ours is in Seagrass). I was totally afraid you were going to have a look in person and discover a bunch of flaws that I had somehow missed (I know how thorough PS researchers are!). Hope it keeps working well for you!

Hi all,

L.L. Bean has the single Bob Revolution stroller on sale for 20% off plus there is a code for free shipping and you'll get a $10 gift card as well. You can get the details on BabyCheapskate (I found out about that site from PS). The only drawbacks I see are that they only have navy and orange and they won't be available for shipment until 4/30.

I just ordered the orange! Total cost was $311.20!!! (free shipping and, since there isn't an L.L. Bean store in my state I didn't have to pay sales tax -- saving me almost another 10%. If we had gotten the stroller through the periodic 20% off REI sales I would have had to purchase a membership and paid sales tax).
(ETA: The Bob Revolution Duallie is also on sale for $455.20.)

Since I see the Bob selling off Craigslist for ~$275 (they don't come up often in my area, but when they do they are gone in one day), I figure this was a great price.

I didn't expect to wake up this morning and order a stroller, but I know that so many PSers love this stroller and my friend that has one loves theirs as well. We plan on getting a larger vehicle before baby, so trunk space shouldn't be an issue. Also, my husband is an avid runner and I walk a good deal so I hope we get lots of use out of it.

About me:
I usually stay in lurker mode as I can never find the time to read and post, but maybe I'll post more frequently as my due date approaches (our first child, a boy, is due 8/25). :-)

Anyway, since this site has been so helpful to me over the years (first for e-ring purchase and now for all things baby) I wanted to pass along the information.

great deal watching, turtle!! i gotta say i was afraid i would regret not getting the BOB since so many people swear by it, but so far i am loving the Indie. pre-congrats too!!

lovin.. i was afraid i'd see it in person and find all these issues too. but it was a really easy choice once we saw it in person and felt how smoothly it moved. we took it 'offroading' on Saturday on some lightly packed sand areas in this town we visited and through some bumps and uneven ditchy areas and it was great. J was just reclining, chillin' out with two blankets and his pacifier checking things out.

on the booo side of strolling...with a stroller and an 'exposed' child people are way more nosy about what/who you have in there and stop you to ask questions...whereas before we'd have him in his car seat covered with an A&A blanket so people would typically not stop you to see the baby. hahaha.

Babies R Us is having a promotional code right now:

coupon code: 936023

Just scored a Boon Flair for $169 with free shipping!

Thanks, Allie! I''m going shopping.

Re: Convertible Car Seats

If you are looking into a Britax, Diapers.com has a 15% off sale if you use the code BRITAX15 and it qualifies for the free shipping.

They also have 2 closeout sales AND if you sign up as a new customer (if you aren''t already a member) you get 10% off:

this one for $209. When you get to the page, they list a bunch of car seats and you can see the one for $199 as well. It is the Sutton style.

The 15% off coupon can''t be used for the closeouts. I still haven''t decided which carseats to get but thought I''d pass along the info. I''m actually considering the Sutton because with the 10% off, it''s $179.99. That''s $100 less than the regular cost. Pretty awesome deal.

wow fiery and the patterns for the closeouts are not bad hehee. now that COW one is a little scary.

lol i think my kid would go cross eyed from staring at that thing. or maybe thats ME staring at him in it. hehee.

now that little bit is here, i wanted to share some things that we LOVE.

1 - graco sweetpeace newborn soothing center - at first we thought she was too small for it, but realized we could tilt it back a bit for her to not be slumped in it. comes with an awesome swaddle blanket that lets you swaddle the infant AND strap them in once they are swaddled. there's holes for the straps to go through on the blanket. swings a couple of ways and truly mimics the way a mother rocks her baby. lots of sound options including a place to put your ipod to listen to your own music.

2 - kimono shirts. LOVE, LOVE. before the baby came, i was clueless about the clothes. i thought that the little one would need pants for some reason? however, at the hospital, they used a long sleeve kimono and just a diaper, then swaddled her up in a blanket and put a little hat on her. this makes changing her a breeze. no pants to fuss with. the long sleeve kimonos have the mitts so that she does scratch up herself. super awesome. she stays in these all day and all night. in fact, she's worn nothing else.

3 - itzbeen - wasn't sure how this would work prior to her being born, but i love it! has 4 buttons - one for diaper, feeding, sleeping and a misc. when you diaper the baby, you push the diaper icon. it starts the timer. that way, when you go to change the baby again, and push the button, you can see how long it's been since you last did a diaper change. same with feeding. i use the feeding button for one side of the breast and the sleep button for the other, that way i can time how long she nurses per side. i use the misc. button to time my medicine. every 4 hours i need to take my medicine, so when i do, i push the misc. button and it starts the clock. there is also a clock and you can set an alarm to wake for the next feeding or whatever. plus it has a nightlight button and a button you can push for the display to be back lit at night. love this thing.

4 - gerber 6 ply prefold diapers - love these for burp cloths. genereously sized and thick.

5 - lap pads - perfect for changing her all over the house. wish we had more.
