Hi,
Long time since I''ve been on. Anyhow, just wondering if pricing on rounds seems to have gone up. I know that pricing of one shape over another is driven by demand and I thought cushion was the hot stone of late... but I was just pricing things out and saw that rounds seem to have really gone up. Any thoughts?

HI Headlight!

Round brilliant is the costliest of all the cuts.....aside from specialty or branded diamonds.
Cushions are in demand these days it's true- but all diamonds have seen fairly substantial increases over 2003 levels for example.

Hi Headlight - long time no see - welcome back!

Are you thinking of trading in your stone or just buying another one?

Thanks!
Well, I was thinking of trading in my stone for something else, but I am now thinking otherwise. I was just at a local jeweler I have become a customer to over the past few years and was talking about my current ring and some thoughts I had and the jeweler (a G.G. who sells AGS diamonds) basically told me that my ring is much better quality than I had perceived it to be, and also gave me the impression it is worth much more that I would have guessed (the diamond and mounting were not purchased from him). So I went onto some websites looking for comps and found that my stone today would cost considerably more than it did when I purchased it in May of 2003. Could that be possible? And, if so, I am thinking that maybe just reset the stone if I want to get a different look and hold on to this diamond....

GOOD to see you Headlight!

I believe your stone is quite large, and the larger stones have gone up much more than the smaller ones. Be glad you bought when you did!

hi headlight, not just rounds have gone up in value.

i just traded in a fancy shape i had for a few years and it''s value increased tremendously.

it went up so much i was able to trade it in for something i had been wanting badly!!

the place where i purchased the fancy actually gives wholesale market value when you trade in. not just the price you paid for it.

i would not have been able to the trade up if the increase in value had not been passed on to me.
