How much would you pay for this diamond GIA 17258681 ? Or what is the lowest price you would pay for this ? See below. Looking for wholesale pricing or as close to it as possible.. I am a consumer looking to buy this diamond from the local jeweler in town and want the best pricing of course.. Any comment to the quality of the diamond is welcome too.. I wonder what the jeweler paid for this diamond too ?

Forgot to mention the Jeweler price to me is 22,500. From what I can tell from my research on the internet it is not a great price.. What should I negotiate the price to ? I am thinking 17,000-18,000. Or maybe even lower.. I am paying CASH too.

18k is at the low end for GIA graded stone, polish and symm grade will also have a small part in the overall cost, especially considering it is from a traditional brick and mortar store, these usually have a mark up of around 10-15% for extra expenditure.

Paying cash usually means a discount from the credit card charge the vendor incur, about 3-5%.

If you pay cash, do not be fooled into doing a paperless transaction... you know, no reciept under the table etc. As a consumer, you need to protection of a proper paper trail for your transaction in case you want to return the diamond for some reason. Get the stores policies re: returns etc in writing and have a receipt for your records.

Yes thanks for the reminder I will most certainly get a receipt.. What do you think of the $ 22,500 price based on the GIA certification information provided would be super helpful.. I am like most people don't want to pay too much. I plan to negotiate to under 20K or I am prepare to walk.. But would like to get more feedback from people on this forum.. Thanks everyone for looking at my post.

Big ditto. I would go in at 19... see how it goes from there.. Please let us know how it goes.

Seems that stone has given you good information to figure out comps.

Yes it has - thanks for looking it up Stone-Cold.. Appreciate the comments from Dreamer and Kaliegh as well.

Using this James Allen as an example..
http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/G-VS ... 194758.asp. The measurement on this James Allen is 8.06 x 8.11 x 5.0mm.
The one I am looking at below has measurements of 8.13-8.16 x4.99mm.. I guess, what do these measurements really mean.. You would think the larger the carat size the larger the measurement would be.. Which measurement is better for their respective carat weight mine or James Allen ?

Just because 2 diamonds share (nearly) the same carat weight, it doesn't mean that the measurements are going to be exactly the same because each diamond is cut with different proprtions. The weight may be the same, but it doesn't mean they are going to face up (how large it looks from the top view, which is the 8.13 - 8.16 measurement) the same size.

I would go for yours as it faces up larger than the James Allen one, provided you can get it for a price you are happy to pay of course.

A BM store is always going to cost a little more than a reputable online Jeweler, I think if you could get it for around the same price as the James Allen one, I would definately take it!

Yap, carat weight is not proportional to 1-D dimensions. The first 2 numbers stand for the maximum and minimum diameter, the last number the total depth. They are both correct for their respective proportions. One has a slightly lower crown, thus a better diameter, or spread as we say, than the other. But overall the dimensions are less than 0.1mm difference, unlikely you will see the difference unless you are comparing them side by side.
