I''''m on the look out for something a little different for a sapphire ring. I''''m planning on getting a small round sapphire in a halo mounting, but also want to consider a solitaire sapphire with an interesting basket & prongs. Inspiration needed!!

Valeria - do you have any more info on the Cartier diamond prongs you posted a while ago?

I''''ve got gorgeous Leon Mege double and single claw prongs on my engagement ring so am looking for other types.

Does anyone have pics of fishtail diamond set prongs? I think Michael B also does diamond set prongs?

It turns out close to natural size on my computer... and I have seen the thing.

Doesn''t Cathy Watreman make rings with prongs sort-of like that? This designer seems to be very much into unsual ways of holding stones on metal.

Oh my! This is getting very interesting and right from the start. Such a God sent, this thread!

Some times I wonder how designers work... especially when unusual ''deja vu'' occurs - like the airy resemblance between the green Richey ring above and archer rings of all things. So much so I wonder if the modern one could be used to draw an arrow better.

Ok, I will very reluctantly enter mine. You'll have to forgive the very poor art/graphic skills and I don't have photoshop or paint so I couldn't do it on my computer.

Anyway, someday I would love to have a charm bracelet with cute charms that each have a special meaning. So, I decided to attempt to design on of my own

. I have a daughter named Lily so my idea is to make a Lily charm. I would make the center colored stone and use pink gold for the leaves. The stone would be bezel set with scalloped prongs circling the top. On each prong would be a tiny diamonds.

ETA: oops, i forgot it's supposed to be a sapphire..so sapphire center, yg or plat.flower.
