The hunt has ended! I was going MAD! Started out looking for a champagne stone, no luck, tried antique, eh, nothing there I liked, then looked at lower grade stones hoping to find something brownish - nada. Finally decided on an M colour square cushion and will be putting it in rose gold to emphasize the warm colour (me likey warm stones!)

Here''s my question: below is a photo of the setting I would like (in white gold - I only want to have the head in rose gold). I really like fishtail prongs and think the antiquey look would be lovely with this setting (and the more rose gold you can see from the top, the better!) but I''ve only ever seen them on "basket" type heads (please forgive me if I use the wrong terms and by all means, I enjoy being educated!)

Would we be able to put fishtail prongs on this setting do you think? If they require a basket, it doesn''t look like there would be room without removing more of the side stones - not sure if that would look any good either. I wanted to ask opinions first before I ask the vendor about it. Do you even think a square cushion would look good in fishtail prongs? I''ve seen rounds and antique cushions with fishtail prongs but they''re not as square as my stone.

I could only upload one image of the ring setting - here is the link for it to see other angles..... http://www.idjewelryonline.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_28&products_id=2660

thanks for any help!!!! (shout out to Yekutiel! You ROCK! No pun intended.....)

I don''t think I''d put a cushion in a head with fishtail prongs, personally. Rounds are often put in them which makes them look sort of square. I think you might lose your cushion shape appearance if you go with fishtail prongs, but it is certainly personal preference. You''d likely have to have it custom made to have a wg pave shank and rose gold head w/fishtail prongs that would fit a cushion anyway.

Here''s an example of a round stone in a head with fishtail prongs:

Thanks - yeah, you''re probably right - I think fishtail would stick out too much - it would turn into a weird shape and I was really just in love with the square shape. Perhaps double prongs? I''ll have to try to find pics of them. The only place I''ve seen them is "Art of Platinum" (can never remember his name correctly - Leon Mege???)
