Hi Steve, I have two purple tourmalines from Mozambique. One is actually a violet blue (6 carats) and the other is more of a grape purple (~5 carats). They are copper bearing and rare since most of the purple is heated to produce neon blues. I'm glad to see another purple tourmaline collector on PS!! I think it's a great collector stone to have!!

Another one who has purple/grape tourmaline here! I like it but have to be honest and say it doesn''t rock my boat as much as some of the other colours. Love the pendant m76steve.

Here are mine on a sunny window. The front one (6 carats) is really amazing. The picture does it absolutely no justice. I know there's a window, but it would be a travesty to recut it since it's a rare color. The cutting is fine enough for me since it's a portuguese cushion, which I love. It is the iciest, coldest steel blue violet, and I ordered a setting for it, so it should be set by early this year. I can't explain the color very well, but it is just beyond gorgeous to me. I like how it has lavender and blue sparkles. The one further away (~5 carats) is a grape color, and very pleasing to my eye, although to me, the front one is the clear winner. I know it looks very grey in the picture, but it really isn't this grey.

On my hand showing off it's sparkles. Although there's a window, the native cutting is very symmetrical and the facets are really nice. It's really hard to believe it's a tourmaline because of the color.
