Hey... I know this place.. I posted some pics I was interested in awhile ago from there.. I think someone mentioned them not being true moonstone.. let me see if Ican find the thread.

Thanks for your reply and the link. I emailed the company and got a very disturbing reply...here is what I wrote:

Hello,
Are your moonstones dyed of treated in anyway...or are they all natural?
Thanks!

Their Reply:

Thanks so much for writing. Regarding your question, I'd like to inform you that this is an authentic and natural top fire moonstone. Normally, moonstone does not have a very strong blue like this, however, many people like this type of strong blue color. Since there are so many people like the strong sky blue top fire moonstone, we use the blue sheet to support behind the authentic moonstone. This is a common and standard technique that most industry uses to support the color to the way that people like. I hope you understand us.

My response back:

Thank you for the info. I am glad to hear that this is an all natural moonstone.
However, I'm not so glad to hear that there is a blue backing used to enhance the blue color behind some of your moonstones. While this may be a common, standard technique used to enhance the color of the stone, it should be mentioned in the description of the piece if it is backed by the blue sheet or not. It is quite misleading not to note it because some may think (as I had thought) that since the description says "authentic, natural moonstone", that the blue color was the true/natural color of the stone. Not, that the blue color of stone is created/enhanced by placing a blue sheet in back of it. I had thought I would be purchasing a stone with un-enhanced coloring. I just think it would be more ethical to list, in the description, if there is any sort of enhancement done to the stone what-so-ever, whether it be heating, dying, or placing colored sheets in back of stones to enhance color. That way, people will know exactly what they are buying and not find out later that their moonstone is not really blue, but is blue because it has a blue sheet placed in back of it.

I'm so dissapointed becsue Moonstone is one of my very favorite stones, yet I can not find a nice looking natural stone anywhere. I just think it is so misleading for this company to sell their stones with out mentioning anything about this blue sheet in the description.
If anyone has any other info or any info about where to purchase nice looking Moonstones, please reply!

Thanks!!

There is a vendor in Beaver Creek Colorado who had some nice peices, I will see if my mother remembers his name. She bought my sister a necklace with moonstone beads, very lovely.
