Hello, I am quite new to the mastery of diamonds, and I need your wisdom...

I am about to buy a diamond ring in order to propose to my girlfriend.

However, I am not sure about the prices.

From DAMAS

a) 0.92 ct G-H SI1 4600 USD
b) 1.00 ct G-H SI1 7500 USD

What do you think, what should I do?

Thank you and regards.

Welcome to Pricescope,

Firstly we need some more info in order to help!

1) Can you post the grading reports for these diamonds such as GIA, AGS, EGL etc?

2) Are the diamonds with an online vendor or store jeweller, I am not familiar with DAMAS?

3) Can you post the proportions of each diamond -

depth %
table %
crown and pavilion angles
polish and symmetry grades
girdle thickness
diameter measurements
fluorescence if applicable

The above will give us details of the cut quality of the diamonds, cut is very important if you are new to this so you will have a beautiful sparkling diamond, so if you could post the info above it would be very helpful so we can advise you which is the best cut, and therefore the most stunning diamond for your fiancee!

4) Have you checked that the diamonds are eyeclean to your standards or have you viewed the diamonds in person?

We would really need more information on both stones, such as table %, crown and pavillion angle, etc. to compare them. But, just based on what you have posted... Go for the .92ct stone! You really wouldn''t see much difference between the two size-wise, so why spend the extra $? Of course, the cut/table size could effect how big they "face up", so....
