Quick spacer band question

Hi all
I have a 3 stone ering and asked for a 5 stone diamond band for our 5 year anniversary. Both are platinum.
I bought a small 1mm spacer from etsy so they don't scratch each other but the spacer is silver, not platinum - does that matter?

Is the silver going to hurt/damage the platinum in any way?

Silly question but just wanted to be sure. Thanks all

Does anyone know?

okay, I did a quick search using the PS search/google function and found this thread - https://www.pricescope.com/communit...r-does-gold-eat-plat-how-about-silver.142394/

Per expert Gary Holloway, platinum will wear away the silver. If you don't care about the silver spacer and can afford to keep replacing it once it is damaged to the point it is not acting as a spacer anymore, you're probably fine. If it were me, though, I'd probably buy a platinum spacer once your current silver spacer is too worn away to do its job.

Thank you!!! I'm guessing I'll be able to tell by looking at the spacer that it's time to replace it?

Looks like plat band on etsy is $245, does that sound right?

Yup that sounds right. I think I bought mine off Etsy for $220 a few years ago.

Honestly if you have a PLAT set I would stick with PLAT, and not silver. Eventually the silver will tarnish and just discolor making it stand out more. PLAT will patina with your other rings as you wear it and color will stay uniform.

I agree w SB above post-

Thank you so much for your feedback so far.

Now I plan to wear my 5 stone ring with my ering (and spacer)

So I have my 2 thin diamond platinum eternity bands (wedding bands) to wear on my right hand- I also have a white gold sapphire ring I like to wear, can I wear that with my two eternity bands? Or no cuz they are plat and it's white gold?
