I’ve been collecting now for almost a year and a half. Would have gone faster if I didn’t keep pilfering the nicer stones from the group to set as rings and earrings!

So I’m starting a thread for one of my most long cherished projects. I’ve been collecting these sapphires for almost a year now and am nearing the finale.

I’ve got to get to 17cms of sapphire and I’m around 13.5cms right now. I’ve got another five stones on the way from Sri Lanka in the next few weeks - a dark pink, a light blue, a bright blue and a little pad - and I think, finally, I might be almost done. Maybe one or two more (a round bright yellow would be awesome to add as I’ve got no round stones in the mix so far).

These range from a couple of hundred dollars for the smallest / lowest quality to a couple of thousand for the most expensive. They all are certified unheated.

My birthday is in January and I’m planning on getting this set as a birthday present to myself

I think with a project like this, there is no such thing as perfect, since you're not matching the size or color.

Perfect is the enemy of the good. Or was it, better is the enemy of the good? Either way, I'm voting that you just do it instead of waiting longer (not that a vote even matters).

Oh, these cheery candy colors are elegant and nostalgic all at once! What a lovely bejeweled piece she will be…can’t wait to see more in a few months!

I’ve got a few under consideration. I have these two yellow sapphires which I was going to make into detachable drops for my diamond studs.



Then I still have my bixbite and spess melee and a tiny unheated ruby which I wanted made into a bombe cocktail ring.



And I’ve got one ruby cabochon left to make a matching ring for my Cartier inspired earrings below.



Then the last bits are a cab tanzanite which I wanted bezel set on a thick gold chain as a pendant and a few pad sapphires which I wanted made into stud earrings to match my pad ring (or maybe another set of detachable drops for my diamond studs).

I think I will go with yellow gold. I think the colours will pop better. I’m still undecided about bezel or claw so I’ve just left the option open with the designer to see what she comes up with.

Oh I can't wait to see what your bracelet looks like! I also can't wait for my b day to come so I can wear my multi bracelet! I have no idea where I will go to wear it, maybe just the kitchen! lol

So first design sketch back! Will go and see it in person and speak to the designer but I really love the little flourishes. Perhaps need to review the colour combos - there seems to be a lot of yellow together in one place - but hard to tell from a sketch like this.

Agree with the yellow. Perhaps the larger grey (right side) could be swapped with the larger yellow in the center to break it up. Still leaves a grouping of lighter tones, but depending on how the stone performs IRL, it could work. Have fun - it’s super exciting to see it coming to life!

I have purchased a small “lot” of additional stones which are arriving shortly to pass on to the designer for potential “swap outs” if she sees a better result.

The stones which aren’t included in the bracelet can go towards complimentary earrings or sold on.

I think this is likely to yield the best result.

I’m not completely convinced about the “swoops” at the end corners either. Will ask for them to be removed and see what the difference is.
