Blanche went to the groomer today.
Minor annoyance: I have a neighbor who has a male, unfixed little poodle/doodle/something mix. I swear she watches for me because the last two times I’ve brought Blanche home from the groomer, this woman and her dog suddenly appear and her dog starts humping and salivating all over Blanche. It’s infuriating. I asked her to control the dog but she laughs and thinks it’s hilarious. So now I have to zip in and zip out hoping she doesn’t see me. Today it worked, but ugh! She’s been in trouble with the HOA board for letting the dog run all over the golf course off leash as well. She thinks that’s ridiculous, and that he isn’t hurting anything. *facepalm* Some dog owners…should not be dog owners.
adorable
but boo hiss your neighbour
or poo hiss more likely
What was the pooch saying???
Meet Jasper!!!!
Our newest family member
He is laying on my lap purring up a storm right now and very intent on watching me type lol
I wish I had my phone with me to take photos but I will add later if I do get to take more photos.
He is very photogenic.
It is a process introducing him to the rest of our furry crew and right now not going super well but hopefully in time
He is a sweet boy. Very big for his age of 8 months. He looks fully grown but he is not so we shall see how big he gets but he is such a purrlicious baby
ETA: We renamed him Jasper (original name was Rhys) and I just researched the name Jasper and it means treasure which he is
Jasper also has a biblical meaning
"The jasper stone John saw refers to a clear jewel, perhaps resembling a diamond. It portrays God's absolute purity and perfection. The carnelian was ruby red. It portrays God as our Redeemer. Israel's high priest wore the jasper and carnelian and ten other gemstones on his chest (Exodus 28:17–21)."
Fitting for Pricescope
He's playing the mouse game now on the iPad. He is such a smart baby
Jasper its lovely to meet you
i hope you are friends with Ollie
Unfortunately no. I don't get what is happening as Jasper is such a sweet cat but not with our other cats. Maybe he is trying to establish dominancy? No clue. He is good with Tommy who is a lover not a fighter. BUT omg Gracie, Oliver and Bobby? He lunges at them to attack. I have to be ever vigilant and I really hope he outgrows this behavior
Last night Jasper was watching "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" with us. He was very engaged in the plot LOL
Jasper is sleek and beautiful! Hopefully, he will acclimate to his new family members, but I wonder if kitty Prozac (fluoxetine) might help in the meantime. I have used it with two cats for aggressive behavior as well as inappropriate urination. I know you have a close friend/family who is a vet, so maybe this has already been discussed, but thought I would throw it out there just in case.
Good luck!
Thanks! My sister won’t prescribe that for the cats unfortunately. I hope the cats settle down and start getting along better. It’s mainly Oliver and Gracie and Jasper. Though he has gone after Bobby I’ve separated Bobby from the others. No one but Tommy gets along with Bobby. My sister explained it this way. Someone in a multi cat household has to be the beta. Tommy is neither alpha or beta and gets along with everyone. Gracie and Oliver are alpha and looks like Jasper is too. That leaves poor Bobby. My sweet boy For now Bobby is in our bedroom and very happy there
Bobby has low platelets and when scratched he doesn’t stop bleeding. Very scary
We’ve spent an entire day in the er with him and the doctors had trouble stopping his bleeding. After a Gracie unprovoked attack
ETA I forgot my sister prescribed Alprazolam a few months ago for Gracie. It didn’t do much to lessen her anxiety but maybe it’ll work in the other cats. Thanks for reminding me about this
Oh, poor sweet Bobby! So many "bullies" in the house. It's good you have a sanctuary for him. He probably loves it too, because at night he gets you both all to himself!
I would love to hear your sisters theory against fluoxetine. Quite frankly, I just take the recommendation of our vet, and didn't know there were alternatives. I have gathered over the years that it is the go-to for most vets, but I am very open to learning more.
Funnily enough he doesn't stay in the bedroom at night. He stays for the beginning of the night but then goes to the door and cries to be let out. Tommy does the same. So the only cat who wants to sleep the entire night through with us is Jasper. And he sleeps on my arm, neck, chest LOL and he stays the entire night too. Purring
But Bobby and Tommy get priority. They just choose not to stay
I will ask her and let you know for sure. I find it difficult at times because so many different viewpoints but I do trust my sister. The only thing is she is pretty conservative though she was willing to give us meds and injections to give both Bobby and Tommy at home.
It's not easy with elderly and sick cats. It just is not. My heart breaks knowing they are on the way out. I just want to give them a good quality of life while they are here with us. And try living in the moment enjoying them now
We just gave Tommy fluids and it did not go well. He is so skinny there is nothing to grasp for fluids and it kept coming out ugh.We have done this before with other cats but Tommy is anorectic
Bobby's steroid injection went well so yay for that. We have enough for three months and then we will reevaluate (hopefully he will be here that long and feel well enough)

Absolute sh!t of a day. One of our cats, Kitty, had to be put down this afternoon. She had kidney failure and hadn't eaten for several days. She was my hubby's favorite. Such a sweet, quiet little girl. We have now lost one pet every year for the past three years.
On top of that, our remaining dog had a huge seizure this afternoon. It lasted about 7 minutes and was violent. He has a brain tumor and the seizures used to be quick and rare. Ugh. This sucks!!!!
