@violet3, these pics are adorable, you and dh look great and your doggies are beyond cute  I love the couch too, really pretty and works perfectly in that space!

Thank you! I am really trying to embrace the outdoor space - that’s the best deck we have (the only one that doesn’t sit right over the highway). Funny part is that it’s off the spare bedroom, not our room. I was joking with my husband that it’s much nicer than our deck - we’re hoping this will make people come visit us!

We hung up lanterns so we could still see at night, and we lucked out with that sectional - it was from wayfair, and you can arrange it in any way you like. My husband says I have a pillow problem, to which I replied “well at least it’s not drugs. It could be worse.”

The deck looks lovely and inviting @violet3. The three babies sure seem to love too!

We got through night 1. The little black ones are purrers. The light orange is too. The marble is shy.

Some photos because they are cute.

I cannot with these pictures! They ARE SO CUTE!!!! I wish so much to have a kitty, but my husband is allergic. The orange girl is really crazy, right? I thought pretty much all orange cats were boys. Man oh man, what I would give to come snuggle those little cuties. What an awesome thing you're doing

@violet3 they are so ridiculously cute. My goal is to make sure that they are well socialized and will be great family members for people. They are so sweet.

And orange girls are really rare! I triple checked her...I assumed she was a boy at first! She is the biggest. I think she was from another litter that was older. The rest are about half her size. She is going to be spayed next Monday and get all her vaccines, to be up for adoption. She's 2.3 pounds as of today!

I had not realized how long I had been away from this thread until I came here to catch up! I had missed so very many wonderful photos and mini-stories! Thank you all for sharing. I really envy Violet the three decks. Although we have a fenced in front yard, for some reason my dog absolutely loves our very small (and completely pillowless) back deck. In my opinion, it has very little to offer, but every time my daughter goes out there to sit on one of the two barren chairs, the dog practically knocks over all the furniture racing to get there before she closes him out!

My daughter was taking a Veterinary Assisrtant course. (She took three of five sections.) She met another woman in the program (who finished the course and became employed as a veterinary assistant.) This woman is now one of my troubled daughter's only friends. She came over to the house the other night after they had gone out to dinner and she took a picture of out dog, Hero (see below).
My daughter told me of an exchange they had that I found so amusing that I thought it could be dialogue in a comedic movie. (My daughter's friend, unlike my daughter, is brilliant, a high academic achiever, and a college graduate, but has little social sense.)

My daughter: I'm glad I have Hero because he doesn't care how fat I am.
Friend: I don't care how fat you are, either.

I laughed. I found it touching, albeit tactless, that my daughter's friend said that. (My daughter is not obese. She weighs in the 160's right now.)

Precious little kittens @elizat, I want to hug them so badly. Please hug them from me.

I’m so sorry! Was she sick? Sending you all the love and prayers I’ve got in my body. Losing a beloved pet is so painful. Big hugs.

Thank you @violet3. Yes Greg and I are devastated at losing our precious darling daughter. She was a special soul. One of a kind. We miss her so terribly. She got so deep into our hearts and was so much a part of our world. Life will never be the same again. I don't have the energy to go over what happened but here is the thread discussing it. :cry2:

@elizat, thank you for these pics...these kitties are so cute I can't even stand it :kiss2::love: It is so wonderful of you to do this for them.

@elizat, you have caused great disharmony in my marriage by posting pictures of irresistible kittens that have released my inner whiny woman who has bombarded my poor husband with incessant pleadings for another kitten (like that luscious orange marmalade marble baby) and caused him to mutter soto voce about me moving into a cardboard box on the patio.

These kittens are growing fast! The orange girl is getting spayed and vaccinated Monday, then she's ready to be adopted. The others have hit 2 pounds too, so they will be going in soon as well.

Lol! That made me giggle.

He is a striking kitten. I think he's going to be a handsome guy. I wonder if he's going to end up with a big fluffy tail even though it's a baby tail now. Most of the cats online with this pattern have big fluffy tails and poofy ears.

@junebug17 I actually have a Singleton I'm picking up tomorrow from a woman and her husband. He's a baby tuxedo and he was caught in a fence. Her husband went into the swamp to get the kitten, because he ran when he was free. And this is Florida. That would have been a gator snack, sadly. He'll be quarantined from the rest, but I said I could take him. Especially with one of my girls getting spayed Monday. I think she should find a home pretty quickly. At least I hope. She's a lovely kitten.

Per Matata's request in a vacuum cleaner thread, here are my fur babies.

Liz was adopted from an animal shelter 50 miles from me, after she was turned in when her owner was moving and couldn't take her with her. I saw her on Petfinder, and her pic called to me. She controls her eye color based on her mood.

Malibu was adopted from a rescue at two and a half years of age. She was taken away from her owner due to neglect and abuse. At the time I adopted her, she had already had her back teeth removed due to stomatitis, and I assumed responsibility for the rest. She's so much better now: nice pink mouth and no more upper respiratory infections. She makes mean biscuits and has the cutest grinch feet with white fur.

Grayson was purchased at a CFA cat show in Edison, NJ. We saw her first, there was a line of people waiting to take her if we didn't. She's a daddy's girl (DF).

Finn (Trulee Alasdair Findlay) is my bi-blue Sheltie puppy who arrived via transport service from Ontario, Canada via Michigan. He herds by jumping up and nipping at your butt when you walk. He's a mouthy teenager right now who likes to let you know when he's not happy with what you've said to him. He likes to howl, and in that spirit howled a scale for me earlier this week in the early mmorning. Mishka is his best friend. He tolerates so much from this puppy.

Mishka is my 20 pound Maine Coon that flew to JFK from Moscow, Russia with a hired escort. He's still got some growing to do. He's 17 months old now and clears every take he sits on.

Thank you. The are all adorable. Love those tufty kitty feets.

Here's a pic of my goofy blue eyed girl, Betty. She's a rescue, around 5 years old, and goodness only knows-what breed. She really rounded out our family.received_593382914500549.jpeg

You can never have too many furbabies to love @Matata though I hear you about the husbands. They can be so unreasonable at times. Men. Harrrumph as HRH used to say.

Wow! Your animals are all gorgeous!!! Just gorgeous! What a lovely family and with such heartwarming stories. Thank you for sharing, furbaby mama-DAF!

This is my newest Foster. He was found by a family that rescued him from going into a swamp to be a gator snack. I let the little girl of the family name the kitten because it was hard for her to say goodbye. She decided to call him Mr. Tux. So this is the new kitten.

Mr. Tux is beautiful! :love::love::love:

I wish I lived by you @elizat, I would come over and help you with all these kitties. I know I sound weird but I would love to do that. I lost my cat 5 weeks ago and don't think I will get another one due to how painful the whole thing was...but it would fill a void to hang out with these sweet kitties.

@junebug17 I'm so sorry! It's terrible to lose them. Sending hugs your way.

I don't find the sentiment odd at all! If you were local, I'd gladly take you up on it! I kind of wish that we were more social people, but we really don't have parties, etc. I think it's actually great for baby animals to have multiple people handle them. So far, it's really only the three of us.

I did invite my coworker over if she wants to come, but so far she has not.

Junie, just a thought. Is there an animal rescue group near you where you can volunteer a few hours a week? They always need help and someone like you could give so much to the animals.

Mr Tux is precious. How wonderful you are doing this for all the kitties. And how delicious too. :kiss2:

Yes! @junebug17 there are a lot of rescues or humane societies that look for people to cuddle and play with the cats and kittens to socialize and entertain them. What a great idea!

That's a good idea @missy...Pet Smart has an adoption section, I was thinking I could volunteer there. I'll have to check out what else is around me.

As some of you know, I had to say goodbye to my big Beau this year. And I still wear my paw pendant that I made in remembrance everyday.
9925B538-6C03-4751-B6C4-D261A4624E04.jpeg8E4777B9-04AC-4E10-97D5-458E0DB40D5F.jpeg

But I still had a big hole in my heart. And after much discussion with my partner, I decided to get another Leonberger pup. I’ve only ever had rescue dogs and going to a breeder felt weird, but the chances of finding another young local rescue Leo seemed slim. And I really wanted another Leo after living and loving my big gentle bear.

Happy to say I’m expecting to welcome little Belle next week :)
Belle is the feminine of Beau in French (I think anyways) so she’ll be his little sister in spirit.
