Real life color comparisons—show me yours!

I am failing at PS today. I couldn’t post with a quote. But, @elizat your rings are to die for. I am perspiring.

@Mamajemmy Look at the second one. It looks so yellow. What’s so weird is my 2.03 g looks so close in size to the 2.78 I ..I think it’s the setting...That’s why I don’t want to go much lower in size...

OH. WOW. WOW. Did I just say that x2? x a billion gorgeous.

F VS2 - 3.05, with 2 x F VS1 .61ct (all AGS certs)

And on the right - 4.07ct S-T VS2 (GIA cert) with uncerted L colored tapered baguettes.

And now with larger sides - F VS2 .95 and .96ct (GIA cert).780166

And @nala - this is a GREAT idea for a thread!

Here is an extreme point of view - opposite ends of the GIA color spectrum without being a fancy.

D VS Circular Brilliant/OEC
UV VS OMC

Both in bezels and metals that should, according to the rabble, help their respective color.

Both are beautiful. The yellow gold ring is rich and yummy and the D ring is cool and crisp and chunkalcious.

All I see is a fabulous combination here.
This could be an amazing moi et toi ring.

I am missing a few things because they are getting a remodel or sized. I think shape and modern v new have a lot of impact.

PXL_20201006_183039512.jpg

Ring finger, bottom up g/h on GIA scale per appraisal, middle ring is an I, pear is an L

Middle finger bottom, is an M and top o-p

Pointer is light yellow. One is w-x and the other y-z if I remember.

I have a three stone k, a u-v oec, snd a q-r omc all out for sizing or makeovers.

THUD! And this is it. This is were imperfect equals true old cut perfection IMO. It doesn't get better than this. @elizat I am SWOONing over your collection!!!!

What a beautiful collection!! So romantic!

This is a GREAT thread! Love the idea, thank you guys!! It’s so much better to have this kind of reference than just flying blind. Also, pictures in real life conditions are the most useful.

I find that I’m blind to the difference between G/I/J. I can see a slight difference between E and I, but it’s faint. D & L is the only pic in which I see a noticeable difference. Thank God for my actively color insensitive eyes

youtube has lots of videos too! agreed! i can't tell any difference between lots of them!

This is a Toi & Moi waiting to happen......... :Up_to_something:

So I found these pics and posted side by side. The left is my Gia I and the right my Gia E taken at Home Depot— same lighting conditions. 47C9BE94-62F0-4768-A6BF-92C749988764.jpeg

So I think I have found the lighting that really highlights color differences. I went shopping today and spotted some rings that were showcased with case
Lightings. 16218837-799E-4E16-84C3-480481E987C2.jpeg1EEB5531-1B3C-4355-B3CA-54900C5F6EBD.jpegEEA20881-1671-4324-AA81-4B92F4A796A7.jpegSo the color difference was super obvious when set next to mine. I would never ever ever have guessed the difference was this obvious if not for the side by side.

@nala Your gorgeous icy white E makes them look so yellow!

Omg! I was totally shocked bc the showcase lighting really made these pieces look super colorless! Granted they were not certified but like I said, my eyes gravitated to them. Now I have to wonder what color they are. Lol.I have to tell you, my ring is definitely a game changer when I go shopping now. I went to my vault yesterday and brought home what I used to consider a colorless cluster ring. Turns out it’s not, lol.

@nala This had been an education..I realized I’m willing to go down in size to get the color...I’m even willing to go down in clarity a bit....
I hope you’re able to enjoy your cluster ring now...lol

I’m gonna have to disagree! The difference between the F and H is striking!

I get it. People can see that. To me it wasn't a significant difference. Don't know why. Wish it was.

Me too, I see quite a big difference. I was considering to select a lower color grade for my future pendant but after seeing these photos I changed my mind. I love the white brightness of colorless diamond! Thanks for the helpful posting!

Yeah for me too. I definitely see a big difference from these photos. But I am very color sensitive.

It's good if you aren't color sensitive though now that you have a D you can be ultra color sensitive and all you will see is icy beautiful white.

Great comparison photos @LLJsmom.
