English / French with some American ancestors on my Father''s side, living in the UK.

I''m American. My mom is 100% Polish second generation. My dad is 50% Belgian, 38% French, and 12% Native American. I inherited red hair and freckles from my Grandma who is 25% Native American, 75% French and it always makes me laugh to think of her going to the tribal health care center with bright red hair and pale skin. She must get so many stares from the other people there.

Hispanic. Colombian (Spanish and Caribbean roots mostly) w/ a sprinkling of French and Lebanese (Mom's side).

Cool thread :)

I was born in the U.S. On my mother''s side, I am majority (like 60 percent ) Irish, with some Scottish (through Stuart) and a hint of Chickasaw Indian. On my father''s side, I am half German and half Portuguese. I take totally from the Irish in me, fair skin, blond hair, blue eyes, freckles, easy sunburn, and I can definitely hold my own in the pub

My mother is the typical American "mutt." I couldn''t even tell you how her ethnic background breaks down. I can imagine she has a good amount of British in her because she is very fair skinned. My father was born in England (Bournemouth) and immigrated to New Zealand when he was 3. I get 3/8 English from him and 1/8 Irish. I too am fair and my "tan" consists of a smattering of freckles.

I was born in the US in New England.

FF is half French Canadian, some part Irish and then the rest I am not sure of.

I was born in Seoul, South Korea on an Army base. My dad met my mom while stationed in Korea for a few years. I''m half Korean/Japanese and half Euro-mutt/Cherokee. I think I pretty much look Asian save for a taller nose

I am second-generation, 100% Ukrainian living in the U.S. My family has really held onto our culture and traditions, and my entire family--including me, my siblings, and my cousins--all still speak Ukrainian.

My fiance is half Irish, half Austrian. My grandmother is a little bummed I''m not marrying a Ukrainian, but fortunately, she really likes FH =).

2nd gen Korean in America (born in Seoul).

Proud to be an American who loves Kimchee!

Wow! So cool that there are folks around the globe on this website! I was born in Hong Kong, 100% Chinese, living in U.S.

I''m 50% pure Portuguese [3rd generation] and 50% North American "mutt." My dad''s side is a mix of French Canadian, Native American Indian and some other smaller bits I don''t remember.

Yum! I love kimchi! Actually, I love all Korean food and am still bummed that the only Korean restaurant in the area closed down a few years ago. Luckily, my parents don't live too far away and my mom usually has something for me to take home every time I go to visit.

I am Heinz 57... I am mostly Irish, with English, Scottish, Native American, and Italian mixed in. Needless to say, I have pale skin and freckles and can''t really be in the sun for more than 10 minutes without burning like a fork in a microwave! Oh... I live in the good ol'' US of A.

BTW- I am like 100th generation or something... Some of my ancestors came over here on the Mayflower!

My ancestors came over via the Bering Land Bridge! LOL, I wonder how many generations that would be
9.gif

Now THAT''S Native American!!

half french canadian (french from france ancestry) and half east indian

for some reason everything thinks i am italian though.. strange...

I am Heinz 57...

My mom''s mom was born in Germany and my mom''s dad was born in Ireland. (or they were full German and Irish respectively and were first generation, but I think my mom and uncle were first US born)...

My dad''s father was born in Poland and my dad''s mother was born in Russia. They met in NYC and then moved to California. My father was first generation in the US, born in Los Angeles in the 1920''s. My grandfather took one of those huge ships over and came through Ellis Island. I wanted to look up his papers. I think all of my grandparents came through, for sure my dad''s parents, if my mom''s parents were born in the US then of course they did not come through Ellis Island.

I''m Canadian.

My parents were both born in Montreal, Quebec.

My dad''s parents are Russian and Polish, and my moms parents were Irish and English.

:-)

Jamaican Chinese Canadian soon to be American kind of ...
25.gif

I was born in Jamaica of Jamaican parents of mixed heritage and raised in Vancouver BC Canada and will be marrying an American and moving to Seattle.

Dad''s side
Half Chinese (His father was born in Canton, China and moved to Jamaica).
Lebanese (His mother''s side, mom, I think, had some Lebanese blood)

Mom''s side
Scottish (Her father''s side somewhere)
Egyptian (Her mother''s side somewhere)

How''s that for diversity?!

Kittybean, that is really cool your family is strong culturally. Kudos to your parents and community

Man, I have never felt so ordinary American... lol.

There is Native American on both sides of my family... I am 1/16th Cherokee on dad''s side, and 1/16th something else on my mom''s side...
28.gif
And some unidentified stuff mixed in there too...

I feel a little better now

I am Belizean American. All generations before mine were born in Belize and my parents were immigrants to the USA. Most people can''t figure out what race or ethnicity my family is.

Wow, great topic, its fun to see everyone''s heritage!

I''m an American that is 1/2 Cuban, 1/4 Italian, and 1/4 Irish!

InLuv - I love Belize! My fiance actually proposed to me there, this past year.

I think a lot of people don''t know much about Belize because it is such a small country (only 300,000 people) but I believe it is a hidden gem!

And the people themselves there are very diverse...people of African, Spanish, Mayan descent...and I also remember passing a farm run by German Mennonites...so very interesting =)

i''m a french + cajun french american. my maiden name was irish though, but every other name down the line as far as i know is french or cajun french.

You are so right Rockzilla, it is a hidden gem! Very cool that your FI proposed there. Do you go often?

I was asked more than a few times if I was Belizean (sp?) when I was living in LA for college. I didn''t look anything like any of the people I knew from Belize, so I didn''t know what to make of it...

I was born in Iceland to American parents and retained dual citizenship there until I was 18 -- continuing it would have required me living there for X amount of time. No thanks :)

My dad is Scottish/Russian ancestry with absolutely no cultural ties and my mother is 100% Italian also with no specific cultural ties. They''re both very worldly and seemed to have picked up traditions from all over the globe. I speak French, poorly, although they kept trying with foreign languages when I was young they ended up immersing me in literature and art when I failed to be interested in languages. Bless their hearts for trying! My brother ended up fluent in Japanese, so they were at last victorious in their quest!

I''m Russian/Jewish. I was born in Odessa, Ukraine, and my family emigrated to Brooklyn when I was 7, and I live in San Jose, CA as of a month ago.

Even though I was born in Ukraine, I describe myself as "Russian" -- that''s how most people I know, who left before the collapse of the Soviet Union identify themselves.

My family is not particularly religious, but being Jewish is a huge part of our cultural identity. In other words, our idea of celebrating any Jewish holiday, is to gather at someone''s house and eat
18.gif
. Except Yom Kippur - it''s the one time a year that my parents visit the Synagogue.

I''m an eastern european mutt; each grandparent comes from a different country in eastern europe but I do speak some Russian!

Fun thread! I''m an all-american kinda mutt too. Italian, Irish, and Polish... very fair-skinned, green eyes, and dark blonde/light brown hair- clearly the more Irish/Polish side coming out in my looks. It''s funny though. My sister looks quite a bit like me, but with darker green eyes and nice olive skin, gorgeous dark brown hair. She''s the Italian one
3.gif
Genetics are a funny thing! I don''t feel that my family has maintained much culture, though I am soo in love with Italy. Alllll American. I have an ex whose parents were Hungarian and I loved that- all of the traditions and such!

I''m an American mutt too
9.gif
but mostly German, English and a touch Irish.

Wow, I must be the only one around here who isn''t from a mixed heritage... I''m French-Canadian, born and bred in Qc, from two French-Canadian families (dad''s family in Quebec, mom''s family in Ontario) with no mixed marriages that we know of (which doesn''t mean there aren''t any). DH is the same (although both his families are from Qc).
