Hi Everyone,

I posted a few days ago about resizing my ring up a 1/4 to 1/2 a size. Essentially, sometimes it feels tight and leaves quite a mark on my finger. Sometimes it fits fine once on. But, all the time, it is tough to get over my knuckle and since I've been showing the ring so much and taking it on and off (it's new), I feel like my knuckle is even irritated. Long story short, I feel I will end up sizing up. I have looked into it a bit and am wondering for advice on pricing and technique. For a bit of basic info: the ring is a simple tiffany-style platinum solitaire. I was told I was between 5 1/2 and 6 originally, so I went with 5 3/4. I don't know the mm of the band off hand, but it feels thicker than the sizing bands I tried on.

1) What would be a reasonable price for going up 1/4 to 1/2 (I will take the jeweler's re-sizing advice on how much to go, but I feel it will be a 1/4)?

2) What technique should I expect? I have read about stretching it, which actually would seem fine to me, since it's such a small amount. But, it sounds like that is poor technique. Should I expect them to cut and add platinum?

The quotes I've gotten for going up about a 1/4 are $75 to $150. I live in San Diego, in case anyone has specific recommendations in the area.

I cant answer all your questions but when I resized my plat shank up it cost me $100. I'm in FL.

They shouldnt have to add any plat (I wouldnt think).
