My ring size is a 5 and the ring I rec''d was mistakenly made a 5 1/2. I had this confirmed by checking the ring size with a jeweler. My sisters had expressed concern over future weight gain and advised me to keep the ring as is. My concern is that it might fall out because it doesn''t feel snug & it slids very easily on & off my finger. Should I get the ring size down to a 5 or 5 1/4?(1/4 extra space for summer swelling) What would be best?

Thanks.

If it makes you nervous, resize it. You can always make it bigger again later if you need to.

Well, only you can make that call but I would say that if it slides over your knuckle easy enough that you think it may fall off, it''s too big. Go to a jeweler and have them size your finger. Good luck!

I''d see if you can do something temporary until summer. I wouldn''t want to size it up and down repeatedly. I''d probably size it in the summer when you know the largest you need it to be.

That''s exactly what I was going to say. My rings are "shake off" loose in the winter, but can be downright tight in the summer. If you can have a ring sizer band thingy put in as a short term solution, I''d prob do that and wait to see what your finger is like in hot weather.

I want to wait till summer to check on the ring, but I only have 10 days to fix or return my ring. I really want WF to resize the ring and not another jeweler. How much does it normally cost to resize a ring? If it''s no big deal, I''ll definitely wait till summer to make my final assessment. In the meantime, I read somewhere about "sizing beads(?)", maybe I can get those for now so I''m not so worried about losing my ring? Does anyone know where I can buy some?

Thanks for all your feedback! Help and speedy advice is only click away! I love Pricescope! On a side note, I just want to let you gals know that when I was at the jeweler getting my ring size, I was browing their selection and my ring out shined all the rings on display! The lady helping me even told me she''s never seen a ring like mine.

That is just so awesome. BTW - it was a chain jewelry store at the mall, not a high end jewelry store.

If you do a search for "sizing balls" beads, cushions, etc. you''ll come up with a bunch of hits. I don''t know how much they cost, but WF could definitely do that for you in the interim if you want to wait until summer. If it''s so loose that you think it''s going to fall off, or it''s constantly spinning, then you really might need a re-size. BTW, I''m still waiting for hand shots!

I''ll ask WF about waiting till summer for the resize. In regards to the pics, I can''t get a digital camera yet.

, it will all be one pot one day, but anyways, I''ll have to wait. Hopefully at least by xmas.

Keep in mind it costs less to size a ring down then up. If they go down and cut the metal out, they''ll have to charge you to add it later.

Also keep in mind that rings are generally round when brand new, but can get off-round as you wear it. Of couse the very thin rings and softer alloys more so. While it may not fit you now as round it may fit better over time as you wear it in. (You should also bring it to a jeweler after a few months have passed to tighten up side stones just in case.)

If it''s really falling off then yes get it sized.

My parents are planning on visiting relatives in Southeast Asia next year - (family vacation) so that might work.

I talked to WF and was advised to size down to 5 1/4, but if I plan to have children I was informed that my finger will swell and my finger won''t be the same after that. I understand the swelling during pregnancy, but even afterwards? Has anyone experience a finger size change after having children?

I really don''t want to have to resize my ring due weather changes or hormonal changes - I want one that will fit comfortably most of the time. And I''m just afraid of marring the ring if it gets resized because it''s so perfect now. If I''m careful and start to eat more salty food (holidays are here

) - I think that will help. Maybe I will get 2 weddings bands that I can stack on either side of the e-ring. I read somewhere that if there is more thickness to a ring (wider band or more than one ring), it will feel more snug. I hope so.

If it is so loose you are in fear of losing it, I would do something now. Even just buy those cheap ring snuggies at Walmat. I had beads and didn''t like them and WF was the vendor who put them in and took them out, so yes, they will do that.

Yes...my ring size pre-children was 4 1/4...after children I am a 5-5 1/2.
Sizing beads are a nice option. I have had those in past rings and my sister has them in her wedding set. The nice thing about them is that they help to prevent spinning.

I swelled up a little at the end of my pregnancy and couldn''t wear my rings, but soon after DD was born I was able to wear them again. My ring was and is the same as pre-pregnancy.
But to add to that, I also don''t put salt on anything I eat and I watch my soduim intake when dinning out which seems to help with swelling during the summer months.

Must be a case by case basis. I've had 3 kids, and would die without salt, and I basically wear the same size 25 years later. Actually, a tad smaller. So I say get what you really feel fits you, and see what happens down the road.

Thanks for all the sugguestions and feedback. I''m going to do an experiment first before I make my final decision. I think the ring is loose because it sits at the bottom of my finger which tends to be smaller than the rest of finger, so I''m going to try on wedding bands to see if having the wedding band (a size 5 1/4) will make the whole set seem more secure. I had tried on a coworkers e-ring that is a size 5 and about the same widith as mine first then my e-ring next, and it felt like it fit better because the bottom ring squeezed my flesh up which caused the top rin (my e-ring to fit better). I want to double check this experiment first with a 5 1/4 wedding band before committing to any changes. I''ll keep everyone posted... whether you want to know or not!

No No!! I''ve had two children and gained weight and my finger is still the same size. I''m a 5 but got my ring as a 5.25 for our hot Florida summers.

Good idea to try it with a wedding band before resizing. Don''t know about the fingers staying larger postpartum- certainly I haven''t lost all the baby weight but my fingers, though not as small as 15 years ago are the only part of me that have lost weight

. Now feet on the other hand- THEY definitely don''t go back to their pre-pregnancy size

Silver Kae,

I highly recommend sizing beads in your situation.

My class ring used to be a size 7 1/4, which was a compromise between a size 7 (which was too tight) and a size 7 1/2 (which was too loose). 7 1/4 was actually the worst of both worlds. When I was cold, it would fall off; when I had been exercising, I needed soap or spit to work it off.

I have since had it resized to a size 8, and had sizing beads put in. It is very comfortable now. It goes on and comes off when I want it to. It has very little spin now, and does not come off by itself.

My jeweller charges about $ 25 - $ 35 to put in a pair of sizing beads.
