Hi everyone,
I'm excited to be thinking about a RHR in celebration of the birth of our second child, due in July. I currently wear a three stone ring on my left hand - no band. It's the WhiteFlash butterflies setting, center is 1.51 ct and the sides are both about .40.

I'm definitely interested in some bling for my RHR. I was originally thinking about a blingy 5 stone, but in a way I think it might look too similar to my three stone. Also, I wear my diamonds every day, and I don't want to take up so much space on my right hand that I won't have room for my future dream project - an emerald cut five stone, a la Leon Mege, or something similar. But that' s for another day (probably years away)! For now, my budget is around $5k.

I originally thought I wanted multi-row pave along the lines of the Tiffany Metro ring, but I think pave is just not durable enough for me. I have also flirted with the idea of rose gold, but I worry that I won't love it forever. I'm now thinking of either a couple of stackers or a partial single prong eternity band that I could wear on my RH ring finger for now but could move to a different finger (or stack) later. I'm looking for versatility and something that I will love and wear forever.

These are some of my current ideas for stackers:

And this is my front runner for the single prong style: http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-ring-platinum_9717

But I am really open to any suggestions! What would you do with my budget?

I will post some alternate stacker options for you in a second but....

This is what I'd get:

http://goodoldgold.com/diamond/11849/ 4,600 for this GORGEOUS stone.

In this setting (push you about 500 over budget) in white gold (GOG will beat that price): http://www.elizabetajewelry.com/products/beverley-k-diamond-engagement-ring-semi-mount-center-stone-not-included-number-9235-slash-65

Or this: http://www.elizabetajewelry.com/products/beverley-k-diamond-engagement-ring-semi-mount-center-stone-not-included-number-9227-slash-65

Or this: http://www.elizabetajewelry.com/products/beverley-k-diamond-engagement-ring-semi-mount-center-stone-not-included-number-9412-slash-60

All can be ordered by GOG for the actual stone shape and dimensions.

Settings will all be about 1000. So... just wanted to give you an nice alternative.

I have wanted this for a long time too:

I originally thought I wanted multi-row pave along the lines of the Tiffany Metro ring, but now it's way down the list.

If my budget was about $5K and I was getting a ring, I would get a substantial 25-30 point eternity, so that I can wear that on days I don't want to bust out the big blingy ering.

And I can stack it too. :)

I'd add something like this:

The Gabriel Stackers are nice quality. One of my friends has several and wears them all the time and they are really quite durable.

The whole point of stackers is mixing and matching. Don't blow your whole budget on 3 REALLY expensive bands. You don't need hand forged by Victor, it's just... silly.

Buy 4-5 bands and then mix and match them weekly or daily or... however often you like.

Thanks everyone! These are some great ideas. I'm a size 5.

Gypsy - I love the oval idea, but I'm thinking I want more of a band for this ring.

I'm curious about all of the Memoire suggestions - is Memoire quality that much better than similar styles made by Blue Nile and WF? What makes it worth the price premium?

Another thought is that, because I love step cuts, I might do a 5 stone EC along these lines: http://www.diamondsbylauren.com/index.php/jewelry/colorless-diamond-ring-251ctw-g-h-vs1-emerald-cut-five-stone-ring-r5590

What do people think about emerald cut five stones at this size? I think larger ECs are very elegant and beautiful, but I haven't seen many small ones in this kind of setting. I'm thinking this might be different enough from my 3 stone that it will stand alone on my RH and won't just feel like more of the same.

Hi OP, I love the 5 stone you linked! I wonder how much that would be if you had it made? I think it's the perfect size, not too big and would definitely satisfy your future project wishes (big EC multi-stone ring) for the time being and be a good partner for it.

I haven't looked at all the suggestions, but I'm going an entirely different route: What about a Cartier Trinity? I got one to celebrate all three of my kids and have their names engraved one on each band. I  love  it. It stacks well and I mix it up. Depending on your finger length, you can stack it many ways. I've seen several of the skinny versions here on PS that look great! I have long fingers, and I didn't want anything that skinny, so I went for the traditional size. I've stacked it with a WF scatter band (current fav), 2mm channel eternity and 2+mm Bezel sapphire/diamond eternity. I've also stacked it with my original ER but to me it looks "off" because I wear the Trinity to play with. ;)

I know it's totally different than what you want, but its an option that I LOVE and thought I'd share. :D Here's a pic of my Trinity with 2 bands

And how I'm currently wearing it (well, minus the channel eternity)

Hi Ice! I'm partial to a shared prong eternity. Very classic, super durable and still very blingy

Here's mine. It's made of 25 pointers, size 6.75 - total weight is 3.75. ERD made it for me. It is so extremely comfortable and I'm still in love with it! Sometimes I'll wear it on my left hand with my plain platinum wedding band when I don't want to wear my E-ring.

Here's a link to the ring -https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-updated-erd-eternity-band-3-75-ctw.192988/

Here's a quick pic of the way I wore it on vacation a few months ago. I didn't want to bring my ER to the Caribbean, even though this eternity is blingy/lots of carat weight, I felt much more comfortable wearing it on vacay (it's easy to replace if lost/stolen as opposed to my antique emerald cut diamond).

As for cost, my ring made with 25 pointers was a bit over your budget but very close, and actually that was when I had it made the first time with a U-prong setting and the total weight was 4.50. I had Mark remake it a year later to the shared prong/basket (the u-prongs were just not comfy/stood up to high and the ring was a bit too big size-wise for me) and when he did that, the new setting was lower and a bit smaller so it had 3 less diamonds in it. So I would have him quote you a 20 pointer and a 25 pointer to see where the pricing is. I did buy this ring 2 years ago so prices could be higher, but even if you go with a 15,18, 20 pointer, it will still be gorgeous.

You could also tell him what your budget is and then have him quote you the size diamonds that would fit into that budget.

The diamonds Mark hand selected are amazing too, I can see arrows in every stone w/ my H&A finder, G/H color, VS2/SI1 (eye clean) clarity.

And it was seeing Asscher_girl's gorgeous eternity that made me think this!! It's a perfect do anything go anywhere blingy band. And also, something to consider, twisting. I would never do anything other than a full eternity since I hate the twisting. But that's me. :)

Hi OP, I had errands close by to the Jewelry area so I stopped by to see some bands. I couldn't find a 5 stone EC but one of my local vendors had a matching set of 5 asschers she's going to have set in a couple weeks, I'm guessing they were .35 or .40 cts. each? Once set, I'll post a picture of it! I'm not sure exactly what design choices she will make but it will likely be very classic and white gold. I'm curious as to what she wants for it, but I'll inquire once it's finished...I may just buy it
