Can''t say the sapphires were worse before... both versions are just wonderful. But that spinel surely got a serious boost.

Are these wonders going to return to a dark box for good ?

No these aren''t going to return to a dark box. I wanted to set the pair of sapphires are earings and the pink possibly as a ring for my 16 year old daughter. The spinel I''m not sure yet.
