Ring shopping (but more!)

Woah!

I went from not wanting to bother my SO with ring stuff because he's so busy for the first three months of this year, from him (on his own) bringing up not just ring shopping, but a budget, the go ahead to get exactly what I want, and the knowledge that he wants a super short engagement (exactly what I want). We've certainly talked about things before, but always in light conversations, never a sit down talk, so I was still pretty shocked that we were on the exact some page.

I'm going to start emailing gem stone cutters next week when they get back from Tuscon! I'll probably get my ring in the next couple of months and then get to elope a couple of months after that!

Have I used enough exclamation points in this post?!

I know it's silly to be so anxious. For some reason I thought the Tuscon gem shows were ending this week but they aren't, which means a lot of lapidaries will be out of town for two more weeks. I was perfectly fine waiting a couple of more months until I got this go ahead, and now this two week (possible) delay is driving me a little crazy. Why couldn't my BF and I have had this discussion a month ago when they weren't all busy?!

I'm currently waiting (extremely impatiently) between three choices from two vendors. I can't believe it has been a month since a started my search! I know some people go on gem searches for years but I'm ready to be done! Hopefully in a week or two I'll have something to share with you guys and the CS forum.

Waiting is extremely distracting.

Are you going to go with all three stones sapphire or just the center stone?

Either way, it's going to be a grgeous ring. I have a three stone sapphire that I absolutely love, the sides are paved with diamonds.

Center stone will be the only sapphire. I'm just waiting on vendors to give me some choices for the center. Depending on how much the center sapphire costs we'll have the round side diamonds be either .25 c each or .2 c each,

OR there is a vendor with a sapphire that is GORGEOUS, but I'd have to go with a solitaire with a bit of melee due to it's price (which will be fine because it can totally hold its own)

I'm just playing the vendor waiting game...

just waiting.... still for the stone! Once we get that it'll be pretty fast. The only problem then is that if we get the stone early this week or late next week, then it takes two weeks to get set... It'll be too close to the two weddings we are going to!

I want my ring and to announce it to everyone NOW (well a month-ish from now) but I don't want either girl to be mad because we stole their thunder (and at least one of them would be FURIOUS).

This doesn't change our plans to elope sometime this summer though.

Wow, I love your ring choices! How did you find a vendor to go to? I was thinking about ordering a stone online and then asking a friend here to get it set. (He is a diamond importer and has a lot of connections) When I talked to him (briefly) about sapphires, he said he didn't usually import any and focused only on diamonds. But I know he can do settings.

Did you go to a B&M for your center stone? Did you buy it separately and then find a jeweler who had a setting you liked? What metal are you using? I have so many questions, because I'm totally new to this!

I didn't want to say anything earlier because if I didn't like it I would have gotten all excited for no reason. Literally 6 hours after posting the new Waiting list this vendor FINALLY got back to me.

But I needed to spill... maybe now I can focus on the paper I have due next week (yeah right)
