Round 5 mm OEC pair; reduced listings; & new/upcoming stuff!

Re: Round 5 mm OEC pair; reduced listings; & new/upcoming st

This one is kind of oddity for me, but I have this diamond bracelet that I'm going to offer. It's from my great aunt's collection (she passed several years ago and I was given some of her pieces - she had a huge collection! This is just not my personal style though, so I never wear it. She was a total doll, it has good karma :)

The issue is that I'm not great at evaluating diamonds, but I'll do my best. I was offered $500 for this bracelet at my local pawn shop several months ago (I was mainly just interested in confirming that they're natural diamonds - they are). I didn't take the offer at the time, but I'm going to offer it here for the same amount, in case anyone is interested. And if no takers, I can always sell it locally.

So: it is marked 14k in at least two pieces; it is fairly heavy. It actually registers on my postal scale (my jewelry scale is broken) at .5 oz, so based on that I believe it is approx 14 grams (at minimum) in weight. The diamonds "appear" to be single cuts to me; I'm not 100% certain, but I *think* that's what I'm seeing. I know it's an older bracelet, vintage at least. The setting is yellow gold; the diamonds appear to be slightly off white to me, but I can't honestly say how much of that is the diamond color, or how much it's affected by the yellow gold setting - and the fact that this bracelet needs a cleaning!! At a guess I would say probably J range, Si1-Si2. Pretty typical for this style of bracelet. I count 49 diamonds, and they look at be @2 mm rounds, they are 2 prong set. By my calculations I believe it's in the 1.5 tcw range. It appears to be about 7.5 inches long, but it has a safety catch so I can't pull it flat to measure. All parts/clasp are in good working condition.

I'm sorry I can't be more specific; I'm just evaluating it the best I can. If you're interested just message me; I'll set up a listing shortly though. I will answer any questions about it as best as I can! Asking $500 OBO (keeping in mind I should be able to get that for it here).

Re: Round 5 mm OEC pair; reduced listings; & new/upcoming st

I just want to say a big thank you to everyone!! Most items have been sold, but there are still a few items left; and I do still have a few remaining items to list. I'll work on adding new listings beginning tomorrow. To simplify things, here is what's left from what I've posted about or put up on LT:

-15 mm round precision cut Rose de France ammy cut by Dana

-14kyg diamond bracelet

-welo opal freeform cab

-merelani mint cab

-7.3 mm round merelani mint cut by Andrew at Gemfix

-mint and mahenge ring in 14k rose gold

Some of these have LT listings and some do not; my goal is still to get listings up for all of them, but this week has been a bit of a whirlwind of answering questions, taking pics, sending messages, and shipping packages - so this remains an ongoing project!

Re: Round 5 mm OEC pair; reduced listings; & new/upcoming st

Another preview.

These are all spinels; the cushion is cut by Peter Torraca and the rounds are cut by Barry B. They all show just beautiful sparkle and flash - better than I can photograph.

Cushion:
Violet-blue spinel (that was Peter's description; it obviously has a LOT of gray in it! It has more gray to my eye than the round spinels it is pictured with).
1.57 ct
6.22 x 7.52
Untreated
Crazy beautiful sparkle; great dispersion.
I asked him about origin and he said he believed it was Sri Lanka
Paid slightly over $850; asking $475 OBO

Rounds:
Violet/gray/blue/periwinkle
I'm offering these as a suite. All three are Tunduru spinels cut by Barry; however, I purchased all three of them at separate times. It took me two years of constant searching to get this trio together! I bought at least a dozen similar spinels before getting these three. They are NOT a "perfectly* matched suite, but they are very close. Two of them are pretty much exact; the third shows a very slight variance from the other two in some lighting - in others it looks like a virtually perfect match - but in all lighting it's at minimum a very close match. They shift in lighting to show one or more of the colors noted above.

In my few years over here, I don't recall ever seeing a matched suite like this offered of Barry spinels - he offers suites but usually they are different colors. So this is a fun rarity!

They are @5.1 mm, 6.1 mm, and 5.3 mm as I recall; I don't have carat weights on them(I've just lost the info, and my jewelry scale is broken, sorry). Though one round is slightly larger than its "match", the difference is negligible to the eye. The cuts are all in his classic round pattern. They have amazing sparkle and are really quite beautiful.

Going to ask $550 on this - it may seem a bit high, but I'm factoring in the rarity of the suite plus the time and money I spent buying other spinels that didn't pan out while trying to create this suite. And I'll be honest; if this doesn't sell, I won't be too heartbroken (I'm trying to hang onto just a very few pieces, and I wouldn't mind if this were one of them :)

- 1.76 cts

- Origin is Tanzania
- Clarity is VVS (it looks quite clean)

Asking $1,000 OBO

Re: Round 5 mm OEC pair; reduced listings; & new/upcoming st

Also for those of you who love mints, I do have another that I can offer. It is not precision cut and has a small/medium weirdish kind of twisty window - but it is slightly over two carats and the saturation is amazing. It is the opposite of my Gemfix round mint; that one is perfect cutting with lighter saturation; this one is an oval, so-so cutting, but amazing saturation. It was a $2200 gem; I'll ask $1500 OBO on it. For those of you who have seen Yvonne's pear mint ring - this was the other gem in that parcel, they were considered by Yvonne and jaimeen to be very well colored mints.

The pics here show it in natural sun. I'm including two (pics 2 and 3) that emphasize the window a bit so you can see it; the two hand shots don't show it as well bc it does blend in a bit; which makes me think the right setting WOULD lessen the window! Something to keep in mind.

2.12 cts, sourced by Yvonne Raley via Prima gems; I've owned it about 2 yrs now, and the market is only tightening on these. I need to check measurements but I think it's about 9x6 mm.

And I have a small suite of @1.8 mm (they should fit a 2 mm setting fine) merelani mint melee. They came from a parcel sourced by Prima a couple of years ago and were a bit pricey. Asking $75. There are 10 and they are beautiful! They would look great set with either of the bigger mints I'm offering. In fact - I'd be happy to offer them as an incentive. If someone picks up one of the bigger mints and wants the melee, I'll include them for free - first come first serve.

Re: Round 5 mm OEC pair; reduced listings; & new/upcoming st

Also, I'm going to lower the price on the Dana rose de France ammy to $109 shipped. That makes it less-than-$8.50-per-carat price - I see very similar material selling by comparable cutters/sellers all the time in the $17-25 p/ct range (Jeff Davies' pieces are a good comparison, I think). I think it's a steal at this price! But I'd like to move it at this point, so hopefully someone will grab this big pretty ammy :).

Re: Round 5 mm OEC pair; reduced listings; & new/upcoming st

And the last thing I'm going to put up for today are my spinel stacker rings. They are 14k YG, size 9. Probably not sizeable (I wouldn't recommend it, bc it would disrupt the pattern). The bands are wheat style; the gems are bezel set; the bezels are set on top of the bands, so they stack better.

The smaller is a Burmese spinel, 5 mm; the larger is 6 mm, .98 ct and a round Vietnamese blue spinel (not cobalt, but a light blue; it was sold to me at the JCK show in 2015 as a "color change" spinel, but to be honest I haven't ever seen much beyond a color *shift*. It looks blue in sunlight and much more lavender in indoor light). The Vietnamese spinel was $800 and that was at dealer's pricing! I only got it bc I attended the show with a trade member; it's trade only. It's rare material; plus it's a round cut!! It took me a few years to find a 6 mm, almost 1 ct ROUND in this material. You almost never see that; they're almost aways pears, when you can find them at all.

These look so pretty together, IMO. They look deceptively inexpensive due to the simple setting - but my cost in the burmese ring is roughly $500; my cost into the Vietnamese ring is roughly $1100. They are fine stones; and they were set by Stephanie at Metalicious, and her work is on the expensive side. I wanted a fun stacker set but wanted to use high quality gems.

With that in mind, I'm asking $280 for the Burmese stacker and $650 on the Vietnamese blue; OR take them both for $875 shipped in the US. It may take me a few days to get a listing up so consider this one another preview :)

Pics 1/2 in varying shades of sun; 3/4 in rather poor indoor lighting, but they show the shift to lavender.

Thank you :). I have felt very lucky that things have sold as they did, and I'm so appreciative of everyone. I have to admit that I was a bit overwhelmed at all of the responses for this sales thread - it's been amazing. I've even reconnected with some of my old PS friends. It's been great! And without going into a lot of stuff, this really will be a big help to my family right now, so I'm very thankful. It's was sad to sell off so many of my favorite pieces, but it was great to have the chance to do it in this community.

BUT that said, it's also been a lot of work, LOL!!! This is by far the biggest thread I've ever done and it felt almost like an event for me; it took time and energy and focus. I'm getting what I think will prob be the last packages out tomorrow - (I still have a few stones left but they make take some time to sell) - so I think I'll be able to relax and focus on family for a bit. I'm so looking forward to it!

Anyway I hope this doesn't sound too cheesy or anything - I'm just feeling very grateful for this community and my friends and acquaintances here. It's made a rough time easier to deal with, for sure.

Re: Round 5 mm OEC pair; reduced listings; & new/upcoming st

Just listed what is probably my last listing!! (I mean, for awhile, lol...not forever or anything ;)

https://loupetroop.com/users/katharath

Copied from the listing-

Here are the specs:

-1.57 ct gray spinel w/blue and violet tones (depending on lighting; it is shifty and can appear almost metallic in some lighting vs showing more blue at other times; and in some indoor lighting I see a slight lavender shift).
-natural, untreated, precision cut by Peter Torraca
-custom rectangular cushion measuring 6.22 x 7.52 x 4.53 mm (@ 6.25 x 7.5); really a perfect cut to my eye
-very very clean (I can't see any inclusions at all)
-beautiful dispersion
-loose and never set, purchased directly by me from Peter
-it looks very much like Tanzanian material to me, but Peter believed it was from Sri Lanka
-I paid right at $900 for this gem ($928 shipped). Asking $550 OBO; it's worth it.

I think I'd mentioned earlier on possibly listing it for a bit lower, but that was before I found my invoice and remembered what I actually paid for it, lol. So I'm asking $550 OBO.

Thanks for looking :)
