Round solitaire suggestions!

What makes the big price differences between them? The first 2 with ideal cuts vs the rest that are excellent but $400 more.

GIA grading costs more

Ooh wow. Is that truly worth it in the value of comparing them? I thought IGI was somewhat preferred with lab diamonds. I like the first 2 really just cause I like that ideal cut.. and closer to the 1.70/- mark. What would be your preference between them? Anything else IGI worth looking at closer to that 1.70? Are there new diamonds posted daily?

To some it is worth it to have the GIA grading pedigree.
From what I've gathered, IGI's current cut grading system isn't as strict as GIA's current system, so there is more room for poor proportions to exist within IGI "Ideal" than there is within GIA "Excellent".

Although, I do believe IGI is in the very early stages of a transition to a better/stricter cut grading system with the option of Ideal-Scope imaging. This is likely going to be a move to go toe to toe against GIA offering their GIA + AGS Light Performance addendum which has AGS ASET Scope imaging. It's probably a fair assumption to say that Karl_K is bound by NDA, so he may not be able to tell us when IGI plans to fully implement their new grading system.

Not under an NDA but best I know its on the to do list to expand availability..
We handed it in but there are a ton of things they are working on.
John P. remains extremely busy with everything going on.
Eventually it will probably be the default but I do not know when.

Thank you, Karl_K - I've stumbled upon a few of the IGI reports with Ideal-Scope, so I'm very much looking forward to seeing them commonplace.

Final request, I’ve taken so much of your time already!! Other then the 3 I sent you that you had already shared with me… anything else in the 1.60-/+ to 1.70/- VVS2/1, near colorless, GIA (?) that you think are worth considering? Again thank you for your time and patience. :)

Here's a current list of stand-outs that I found (in no particular order):

Thank you. I like that 1.62 but wish it had the h&a. Anything closer to that? If not.. Between the two 1.67 do you favor one?

GIA does not have a "formal" Hearts & Arrows check. The best that they have right now is their AGS Light Performance addendum with ASET imagery...but lab grown diamonds with that optional report are extremely hard to find out in the wild.

You’re very informative. Thank you. Then in choosing between the 7518128092, 2507395906 and the 6501708827… is there a stand out?

Yes, 8827 is probably my favorite due to the slightly thicker, more pronounced arrows. :)

Do you have any GIA standouts under 1.60?

Not that makes sense for pricing...well cut and proportioned GIA graded VVS1-2 D-G color, 1.50-1.59 carats filtered for 57% max table and HPHT, I'm seeing prices start around $875.

Bummer ok! Thanks for all your honesty with me. I appreciate it. In your own opinion- do you believe the GIA is worth the extra $? I know the initial diamond I picked out is beautiful. But when considering something a little bigger- I also felt like GIA was superior. In the IGI inventory- are there any standouts in the 1.60 range? I’m very torn and going crazy at this point.

Just this one...there were a couple others, but they are showing sold on some other sites.

Okay so in the 1.60- 1.70 the GIA options would be best available right now?

Okay I’m going to hold tight to what I have for now and see how I feel about the size. Unless you think I should go GIA. I would take the advice.

With money not the obstacle (I don’t mind paying $200 more)... and wanting something a little bigger. Is there a downfall with GIA over IGI?

Do you think 1.8x carats (7.8x millimeters) is OK, or getting too big in outer diameter?

This one is listed for just under USD$580, as an example.

No real downfall, as long as all the boxes are checked:
__ Proportions and angles
__ Cut precision
__ Clean crystal quality
__ Acceptable price per carat

I know everything you’re sending checks those marks.
