While we are waiting for Sue's birthday, here are some pieces of my champagne/cognac jewelry collection. The first is a leopard design suite from Timeless Gems. As in the following photos, the morning light was not great.
OMG, you're killing me, GK. I LOVE the idea of different colored champagne stones all together in one piece!
Glad you like them. Timeless used to carry a whole line of animal-inspired 18kt jewelry including the leopard, jaguar and zebra designs.

Sue has really touched a nerve here. Can't wait to see her ring.

FYI, one of my friends bought a stunning ring from Kimmimoto at the last Chantilly show that had a 1+ct C-4/5 champagne center stone. It was bright and sparkling, not dull at all.

I do all my best thinking in bed so last night it occured to me that there was one more unanswered question!

Why are these diamonds called "Royal" Cognac Diamonds?

Maybe because they cost a fortune?

If anyone knows this one then do tell - I''d love to know.

Many thanks to you all,

Sue

The only reference I could find to "Royal Cognac Diamonds" on a Google search was at QVC-UK. They were listed under Brand Names...

My guess is that it''s a term one vendor uses to describe his colored diamonds.

Edited to add: Oooooh....I just went to your website and LOVED reading all about you and Sweep and Ninja (I had to put down my sweet sweet old Rottweiller a couple of years ago, too

There are quite a few CRAZY dog nuts who frequent this forum...I hope they check out your site too!

Why are these diamonds called 'Royal' Cognac Diamonds?
Branding, I bet. There are/were other attempts to call brown diamonds something else than 'brown': 'champagne' is such a trade name, then 'cognag', but these are generic, not branded. I've also heard about 'chocolate' diamonds - and that name seems to pertain to a brand. Now there is 'chocolate gold' to go with them

(it's some surface treatment that yields brown colored gold jewelry). Then if you ever hear about 'imperial diamonds' - that those are HPHT treated pink and red-ish.

Since there are different shades of brown (cold, yellowish, orage-ish... whatever) to the point that it may not be easy to match them, there is allot of room for branding too. The catch with these being... that asking for a brown diamond instead of the brand name will probably save you a handsome chunk. Perhaps it does not sound as nice to say 'brown diamond' (or so whoever came up with the name believes), but what difference does it make? The stones are the same.

How about these

If I could have plucked it right out of the screen I would have stashed it in my pocket and ran, lol.

Your comments made me laugh out loud and I sooooooo know how you feel! I see stuff on the Internet all the time that I could happily 'pluck off the screen and run away with'

'Royal cognac' is a trademark name at QVC. uk too. Their champagne/cognac diamonds look very nice. I've been tempted to buy one a couple of times - especially the lighter golden hued ones.

And to add to everything that''s been posted here is my champagne diamond set. All I remember is that the centre RB is 1.56 ct and at least VS quality.
