I wish 'modern era' royal men wore more jewlery but a signet ring is better than nothing, ive always thought the Queen's father was rather handsome 5530240e7e6089326781f16269ebf85f.jpg yZYl4o-7acIARTDNict0o0NIqe7-kJiS3Ugd9fROvvo.jpg

The king and his mum Queen Mary
Everdently intil Queen Mary it was unusual for a dowiger (excuse spelling ) Queen to be at another coronation but she choose to support her son after the abdication of his brother

I read somewhere it was because of little Princess Margaret why the two princess had corrinets ?

"Mother, why did you mess with the Nizam of Hayderabad tiara?"

The Duchess looks wonderful and regal. She has been carrying on her duties like a trooper. She appears here at Westminster Abbey at a service that starts the Remembrance Week activities. November 11 will be Remembrance (Armistice) Day, the anniversary of the end of World War I.

Almost looks like Adrianne is wearing the kiddy version of the aquamarine kokoshnik that her mother rocked!

I would hope even though the king has trimmed back his working royal family that the now non HRH princess would still get to wear tiaras at family events in the future
the Scandinavian royals seem to have plenty of opportunities to wear tiaras compaired to their British counterparts

Charlie has an artist eye like his father so im hoping when he is in control of the jewel vault key, him, Camilia and Kate will have a good poke around and have some fun (and find something nice for Sophie)

I just read the UK parliament is giving the people an extra bank holiday next year in honour of the Queen's platinum jubilee

Saddly i also read of the passing of one of the Queen's maids of honour from her coronation

Four days bank holiday! Hope I'll be able to travel again in summer 2022 and attend the Platinum Jubilee! More will be discussed in Westminster today, I believe.

RIP, Lady Moyra!
She was also a lady-in-waiting to Princess Alexandra and attended the celebrations for the Nigerian independence in 1960 and wore a sparkly tiara and jewels, probably coming from her family, the Dukes of Abercorn.

In other news...
The latest addition to my tiara collection arrived yesterday! This time I went for a tiara that would fill in a gap in the collection - Belle Époque. Because I'm really partial to the gentle swirls of the Khedive, the history behind the piece and Cartier (allegedly), I decided to go for the tiara that has adorned the heads of all of Queen Ingrid's daughters and granddaughters on their wedding days.

This brings the collection to the magical number 7 and I think I won't be adding anything new for some time...

It is wonderful to live a very long life, but also very sad to farewell many friends because you have lived a long life. While you can always make new friends (although this would be very difficult for the Queen) you can never make old friends.

It must be sad for everyone who is fortunate enough to reach very old age
i think when the Queen and Prince Philip had their last big wedding anniversary they only had a small family affair because two many old friends has recently passed away

It is very sad. It's the downside of living a long time. My father has outlived all of his siblings, his friends and his wife. I can understand why he feels sad sometimes. Still he does get some enjoyment out of life so that is the main thing. He saw the Queen when she toured in 1963.

With the release of the 4th season of The Crown closer and closer, a new behind the scenes video has been shared by Netflix.

Apart from the actors and creators' own thoughts, we get to see a few glimpses of what's to come and that also means some of the jewels we'll enjoy, particularly those of the new characters - Lady Diana and Margaret Thatcher. Seems like we'll also experience the decline of tiara events, as none of the teasers have shown a good display of tiaras and grand jewels that we were so accustomed to in the previous seasons.

I'm sure many have read how Lady Diana was invited at the palace to select an engagement ring and how she picked up the largest one. The Crown is reviving this scene for us:

@Daisys and Diamonds mentioned the Prince of Wales' signet ring earlier and we get a view of it on the show, as well as a diamond bracelet for Diana:

Other jeweler ''highlights'' are a lovely pearl choker for Camilla Parker-Bowles (as she was then) and Margaret Thatcher's iconic pearls and button earrings (and the ring with a large cabochon):
