Royal Jewels

Interesting article from The Telegraph that mentions that Diana wore coustume jewlery to engagement that involved children because they liked to play with it
....naturally i'll not post pictures here of her coustume pieces

I just wish Charlene would wear a tiara on occasion. She's worn the aigrette once and the ocean waves as a necklace once and tiara for a picture.

Bring out the hats, ladies! It's time for Royal Ascot!

A few horse-loving members of the Royal Family attended day one yesterday, including Camilla and Anne.

Cams dusted off one of her pearl chokers and other goodies for the occasion:

Princess Anne, a fellow equestrian, rocked a horse brooch and lovely pearl drop earrings in addition to her dainty necklace and statement shades:

Sophie Wessex was joined by the Countess of Derby. Both ladies wore some lovely pearls and big hats:

Any ideas about the maker of the pendant?

Day 2 brought at least one surprise and a personal favourite.

The Duchess of Cornwall went glamorous and replaced the timeless pearls with diamond rondelle. The necklace made a dubut recently during the celebrations of the bicentenary of the Greek independence

Her sister-in-law went retro with a pair of large mabe pearl and enamel (?) earrings and a gem-set pearls. And while the jewels were different, the shades remained!

The Countess of Wessex selected a large pearl pendant and diamond hoops to complete her floral attire.

And lastly my winner (from yesterday) - HRH The Prince of Wales in a stunning cabochon sapphire and diamond tie pin. It's rare to enjoy male royal jewels and HRH certainly has the panache to wear them.

Oh that tie pin in a stunner
Thank you for the close up
Perhaps Charles should have a rummage around in the Queen's vaults and see what other jewlery is suitable for a 21st century Prince of Wales

Thank you for all the photos
Im so happy to see them
Honestly they could have turned up in sugar sacks and xmas cracker trinkets and id still be so happy to see them all this year !
But everyone looks wonderful

Prince Edward looked very dapper yesterday but his big brother stole the show today
Hopefully the Queen's horse(s) will ne running tomorrow and we will see her
i assume its safe and legal now for the family to go back to the castle for tea after the races for a catch up on the days excitement and a chin wag ?

It's this one - seed pearls with a diamond heart. Probably a present from Charles when Wills was born.

Hello! Actually I had thought that Prince Charles had given this pearl necklace as a gift to Princess Diana as a gift upon the arrival of Prince William, but Princess Diana actually bought this herself using some legacy money. This information was in one of the Royal Jewels books.

I've had no luck but im hoping/ guessing Lauren of the court jewler will feature it in her Ascot day 2 round up shortly ....
Did find a full length photo of Sophie and Edward's mask was quite fetchingScreenshot_20210617-163059.pngScreenshot_20210617-163006.png

I've read both versions and both seem possible. Thanks for mentioning the other one anyway :)
Maybe we'll learn the real story behind the necklace before long (and see it again).

The Earl's ties are fitting for the occasion. He wore a stick pin with his grandfather's monogram in diamonds on both days.

Is that a Cunard ship on hi mask?

Oh is that what it is
Eagle eyes you !
I mean i knew it was a ship ...

Still not sure what the connection is between the event and the ship...

Anyways, GettyImages has a clear photo of Camilla's diamond necklace. Appropriate for Ascot or a society wedding, but hope we won't see much of it at gala dinners.

I like Sophie's skirt - it kind of matches the colour of her hat
that's all ive got so far ......

So as i don't follow the nags - i mean i like horses and i enjoy them at the Olympics but even the Melbourne cup race bores me to tears (give me car racing any day )
So whay happened to Ascot day 4 ?

Where there no royal relations in attendence or was it rained off ?

It was rainy on Day 4 and too wet for the horses to run with no danger for both the horses and the jockeys. Remember that racing is dangerous even in dry weather! Other sports events on the day were also cancelled, like cricket.

Anyway, back to the royal present - it was a surprisingly low-key brooch for her fist race in two years, but her smile was shining as bright as the biggest diamond!

PS: I'm into show jumping. Racing isn't my thing, but I appreciate the social aspect (and the jewels).

That rain on the cricket :cry2: :angryfire::doh::cry2:
At least no super over on the cards !

Back to the horses -yes me too - i think I'd be happier at the Windsor horse trials than Ascot

NZ has 8 horses going to the Olympics this year but if Bruce Springsteen's daughter Jessica makes the US show jumping team i will have two teams to support
