I would just like to know where everyone finds these wonderful husbands!!! Can we trade in our old ones there?

Beautiful ruby, looks like something that royalty would wear. Reminds me of the Duchess of York''s (Fergie) engagement ring.

Congrats!! I was waiting and waiting to see pictures. Thank you!!

It''s beautiful! I have been wanting a ruby for a while now and I think that you just pushed me over the edge into looking for one..

Thanks everyone for your kind words and advice. I am glad that it turned out well as it is my first ruby purchase. I think coloured gemstones are so beautiful, aren''t you just amazed that our earth can produce so many different beautiful rocks?

Widget and Linda W''s got me interested in a padparadscha, Twodoor''s got me interested in a paraiba and MINE''s got me buying a spess from Daniel Stair!

That is a gorgeous ruby and I love the setting, it really suits your hand so well!!!

The earth has some very amazing gemstones. I always wonder what other planets and objects in the Universe have that we don''t have as far as crystals and elements. I was once told that all Iridium (one of the platinum alloy metals) came on this planet from a meteorite.

Gorgeous, Gorgeous ruby and setting!!!

Hi S! I''ve been reading the other threads but good thing I visited the coloured gemstone forum yesterday as I would have otherwise missed your lovely new rings! Your colleagues must have been wowed all over again with your acquisitions!

Hey, I''m looking for a nice small peridot loose stone (probably not more than 2 cts). Do you know if our favourite IP guys would have it?

Hi there, not really though, haven''t really worn my ruby ring to the office because I am afraid that if I chip or scratch it, I cannot find a replacement like this one (cushion cut and glowy). I don''t think the IP guys will have the peridot though. Would you like to try www.customgemstones.com? Daniel Stair is the cutter there whom I got the spessartite garnet from and he has excellent service. He may be able to find something for you.

Hey S, thanks! Oh! I didn''t realise rubies are so fragile.

I''ve been surfing Dan''s site since you introduced it to me. But so far have been resisting. How long did it take for yr garnet to be delivered?

They''re not. They''re among the toughest of gemstones. Their crystal structure is actually "tougher" than a diamond''s, although not as "hard". They will scratch easier, but not chip or break as easy as a diamond.

Thanks Rich!

That IS a gorgeous Ruby. Richard Sherwood actually does my appraisals (I'm lucky I'm in Sarasota where his lab is) and everything I have ever had appraised from GRS ALWAYS is verified by Richard. I understand GRS does a lot for Sotherby's in London and I hear that Dr. A. Peretti is a genius. Hope that helps out with your GRS question.

Very pretty ring and a lovely ruby. Rubies are gorgeous when they are transparent and yours is terrific.

Thanks David, that is very reassuring! Thanks Marcyc!
