Ruby options

Outdoor pics. Camera sees more pink than I do with my eyes somehow, but it's close

I'm biased because this looks a lot like my ruby ring and I love it lots. Also, fun fact, but my daughter is also due in July!

Funny thing happened today. I remembered that my grandma left me a ruby ring that I was trying to sell bc it's tiny and I thought I'd never wear it.

I have it and 2 loose royal asscher diamonds that I might make into a new piece vs paying for a new loose ruby (although i adore the color of option 2)

@lovedogs. This is lovely!

Other options! Don't want to post links bc of snipers, but wanted thoughts.
My favorites (from left) are: 1,3, 4. I was told by the vendor that 1 is a little silkier than 3 or 4 so might not be quite as bright. Any suggestions?

Yes, the trilliant is the sweet spot for cut and color! I also like the second to last round even though it's smaller and has a touch of purple.

I am the odd man out in like four. I also like the heart. But I know autumn and it’s mainly you are the big gem experts!

I was initially drawn to both 3 and 4 (trillion and emerald). But I think the trillion is likely my favorite in tje end

I like the same as the others. What is the price range and carat weights on these? For my own purposes some day!

I'm now debating doing a toi et moi instead of 3 stone, as I've always liked the aesthetic but haven't ever owned one.

What do folks think about the color of the 2nd stone? Should it be diamond bc that's classic? Or another color? I don't want green because red+ green = Christmas in my mind haha. But I'd be open to blue (any shade), yellow, etc.

I know, I know, you said no green, but what about a bluer leaning Kornerupine?
I'm kind of fascinated by them.
A warm diamond would be lovely as well.

I'm totally fine with blue/green, just not like emerald green

What is your birthstone?

I love the stones' combo so much, those Victorians knew what to do it lol. I had no idea that there are so many of us here with December / Capricorn birthdays. We have impeccable taste ;) I've never been wild about topaz, but saw this one and looked cute, especially because of the setting Screenshot_20240603_180631_Photos.jpg

Agreed it’s a killer color combo. Any stone that color would look great but the others are $$ like paraiba.

I'll definitely share pricing, vendor, etc, once I decide whether to pull the trigger on the trillion or not. But most are small (under .75ct)

Thanks, I am also looking, but for something larger.

Well, I found something I love and it's my plan to re-create it with changes that will make it more "me". In the meantime, I'd love help figuring out the size of the rubies and center diamonds.

It says 1.14ct rubies and I count 12 stones. But wouldn't that mean each one is only .10ct, which seems impossible because that would mean each is 3mm. Does that seem right?

Here are the changes I'd like to make:

1. I'd like to have one flower be ruby center and diamond "petals" and the other be the opposite (diamond center and ruby "petals". Like this amazing VCA inspo ring

2. I'd like the shank to thin out a bit and not stay so wide. That way there could be 1 row of diamonds instead of 3 (which looks awkward). Again, more like the VCA.

3. I want half of the metal to be YG and half WG. This probably sounds awful to most, but I've coveted this ring for a long time now (but such a big eternity isn't practical for me). So one flower and half of the ring will be YG and other half WG.

Love this plan!

Rubies are heavier than diamonds. My 3mm corundum are .15ct so I suspect the petals are more like 2.5mm tops.

I like the proportions on the VCA where the center is a little bigger than the petals.

Me too in terms of proportions. So maybe center of like 3.5 and petals 2.5?
