Has anyone purchased from exportgems on ebay? I purchased a ruby on there as a gift for one of my girls. It looks nice in the pirctures, but I am nervous because I have never purchased from them. It has a GIT memo. Is GIT trackable online yet, do I have to email them to verify.

from what i can see-the stone looks pretty nice-fairly clean/bright & nice size-for a first stone looks like a keeper-just guessing that its from africa area-for peace of mind have it appraised for insurance value-if its authentic ruby all for the good-a real item of earth history millions of years old & pretty to behold-ebay stands behind its sale-my 2 cnts-steve...

Noone knows if git is verifiable?

I bought a pink sapphire from Export Gems recently, it came with an AIGS brief report, I emailed AIGS with the information and they verified the report for me, maybe you can try that with GIT? FYI the sapphire looks more like the photo in the report than their photos, which looks to be too nice in many cases. My sapphire is a bit sleepy, not a deep purple/pink colour like their photos.

Thanks LG! I will email them now. As long as it looks close to the ruby I'll be happy. I don't want a super pink ruby, and that is my concern. The report says pinkish red so I am hoping it IS pinkish red, and not really pink with a little red.

Did you end up keeping your stone? Are you happy with it?

I kept it bit I'm not entirely happy with it, I've been to busy to return it, it wasn't expensive but maybe I overpaid for what it is.
I think I can use it as an accent stone for a pendant.

I've purchased a sphene and a spinel from exportgems before. The sphene was close to their photo, but the spinel wasn't quite as vibrant as their photo, I still kept it as it was a pretty spinel for the money. I would caution you to look at their toolhaus.org report, and that particular ruby you're interested in, to me, is kind of brown in the photo you posted. Do they have some more close up shots? I avoid rubies like the plague on ebay or anywhere. They're just too expensive for the color you get, and if you want a really nice one, it's $$$$$$$$$$$, and you always have to get a lab memo which adds cost to the stone. That's why I stick with spinels. ;))

Tl, I already purchased this one. I won it at auction for 300, and it has the lab memo already.I have more closeup shots the auction had but who knows if it's the true color, lol. I figured it's worth a shot, as I like pinkish red rubies, and think it would make a nice pendent for my daughter.

I will have it on Monday, so I will post a picture of it then. I am hoping it's not brown :x

Ooops, sorry, I didn't realize you purchased it already (lack of sleep). Well, you have one lucky daughter there!! Very sweet gift. Keep us posted on what you think of it when you get it.

RockHugger, I wanted to wait to post my ruby from Expoprtgems until it got here - you will NOT be disappointed! Mine has AIGS certification and when I got it, I felt it was much closer to the AIGS shot than the vendor photos. It's dark here today, so I can't seem to capture the colour of it, and while the pav is cut a bit wonky, it's really lovely in person. You paid a great price, too!

I would love to see a irl picture! Even if it is a cloudy day shot. Looks like a beautiful ruby. Is it sleepy at all?

I'm so sorry, RH. I have already packed up the cameras for my trip; leaving quite early in the morning and currently all of my batteries are charging. The ruby is a teeny bit sleepy, and a tiny bit windowed. It's not overly saturated, though, and it has quite a bit of pink flashes in daylight.

It's beautiful for what it is, IMO. Much more red than my recent rubellite purchase, and a pretty reasonable price considering it's untreated and certified.
