Salt and pepper diamonds - why are they so expensive?

Totally agree about the pricing on a lot of salt and pepper completed rings. Buying a loose stone and setting it costs less and might be worth it if you like the look.

Speaking of the look, I am not a fan of the blotchy diamonds but do appreciate the evenly peppered stones. Here’s one that I don’t plan on buying right now but that I would totally wear if it were a gift. How cool is that dark outline and pointillism grey effect?

I love the pattern on that ring. Something a bit magical about very opaque stones.

Honestly, if I recall correctly I spent just shy of £500 on the stone and the setting together - which I find very reasonable. The gold band behind it was an eBay find, maybe £75.

I get that some of the salt and pepper diamonds/rings are crazy expensive - but they don’t have to be.
