Any of you lovely ladies & gents hail from the San Antonio, TX area?? A close younger relative of mine is headed your way & I was hoping for some scoop on best areas to live & anything else you think would help a newbie!

I''d love to help you, but I live in Houston, about 3 hours away.
There are several PS members that live in Austin, which is close to San Antonio,
maybe they will see this thread and give you some pointers!

Deco,

I''m from San Antonio and I love my city! It''s the best of both worlds...a big city with a friendly, small city feel. I''m 25 and lived here most of my life.

Will they be apartment or house hunting? Anything along or close to Loop 1604 is wonderful! Most areas along this stretch is really being developed with all sorts of shopping, dining, housing, and general activity. It''s a "hot spot" right now I guess.

Anything in particular they want to know?

Yea!!! Thanks for the reply. I think his first concern is deciding where to live ... he''s moving first (very soon) & will be followed (hopefully) by his girlfriend. I''m assuming he''ll be looking for a place big enough for both of them but haven''t asked that specifically (Bad Pscoper/Former LIW!!

He''s used to living in a semi-downtown, walk around neighborhood outside of DC. They are late 20''s-early 30''s & not suburb types really. I think they''ll want an urban, artsy area with lots of opportunities to socialize & meet new people as they only know one person down there right now. SCARY but EXCITING! I''m looking forward to visiting & maybe even helping him settle in. I''ve only been to Austin, TX before (which I LOVED!) so I''m kinda happy he''ll be pretty close to there as well.

Will ask if he has any super specific question. Thanks in advance for any more scoop!

I live about an hour outside of San Antonio! Not so sure about the best places to live but I can tell you that Chuy''s has really amazing Tex Mex. North Star Mall seems really dirty and lots of gross people so La Cantera is the best bet for shopping! Oh, and the Alamo Quarry is good shopping too! Both are super cute. The Botanical Gardens and Museum of Art are nice to visit as well.
