I''m curious which row you think looks better.. the top row or the bottom row. They are the same stones, but two different exposure times with the camera.

Hi,

A better question might be: which row most resembles the actual appearance of the stones in normal ambient lighting?

Richard M.

I believe the top row better represents the stones in normal ambient lighting. Of course, if you take the stones outside, they look much brighter (like the bottom row).

I like the bottom row but that is because I like the more medium colored sapphires as opposed to the dark ones. I would think you would want to advertise them with the picture that best resembles what they look like inside in person.

I prefer the bottom rows appearance too.

I much prefer the top row; I don''t like how the crown facets in the bottom row have glare (?) that create a washed out appearance.

I''d take the more realistic one, of course... regardless.

In either picture, I find it distracting that the background is not of a neutral color: it would suggest that the entire image was altered to improve the saturation of anything blue in it. If these represent the color of sapphires quite well, then ... it makes no sense to alter them, of course. Perhaps using a medium gray background would reduce this effect (as colored grays are less distinct than whites). Just a thought.

I feel that the first photo must be more sincere : You can hardkly see the background's details on the second while you should if exposure is right.

Even if you have a very good eye

I feel these colors look quite natural and I'm not disturbed by backgroud.
