I was at my jewelers today going over designs for my e-ring setting upgrade and just for fun he showed me a 2 carat branded modified asscher. I can't remember the exact name of the brand but I did a search and came upon the name Tycoon that seems to fit. Now this particular diamond facing down looked like a typical asscher but face up it was different. It still had the clipped corners but the table had a diamond shaped pattern, it still had that hall of mirrors appearance but it seemed to have more facets and it sparkled like crazy. It was really amazing to look at. I even got to hold it and move it around.. I found this picture that closely resembles the one I saw but it doesn't have the clipped corners. Has anyone ever seen this?? He also showed me a beautiful 6 carat yellow sapphire asscher... swoon...

Goodness, I had typed up a long ole' description and my internet explorer froze up :angryfire: .. Lucky for you I will now give the condensed version!! ;))

I took several pictures to my jeweler of rings that I like and even some I didn't in hopes that he would be able to make some sense of what I was wanting. I have grown to love solitaires (with pave shank of course) but my diamond has been set in a halo I am afraid I would go into shock with the loss of coverage. I knew I wanted side stones but wasn't sure of how it would work with a halo. I have seen side stones/haloed rings but haven't really loved them. One thing he got from the pictures was that the lines were all fluid and seemed to flow right into the next, almost as if they were all the same. One of my favorite Leon rings of all time is Brown Eyed Country Girls. This was one of the pictures I showed him and he did a mock up drawing using bullets but we couldn't do much until the side stones were found. I ended up trying a ring on with bullets and I didn't not like them so I called my jeweler who then set out to find half-moons and traps. I went in a few days later, he hadn't found half-moons but had found a set of beautiful traps and a set of Cadis which are a modified step-cut trap. The great thing about this is it has that tapered end similar to the bullets (which lends more to a line flow) but is more along the size of a trap. I loved them and so when I went in yesterday he had a more detailed drawing, which of course is going to be hard to describe but here is a slaughtered description. The Cadi's will be placed up against the sides of the asscher which will then be enveloped by a flowing halo. The halo will taper into the shank and turn into the side of the shank. If you look at the Leon ring posted below there are 4 sections to the shank (mine will have same effect but with 3 sections), the halo is going to flow into the left and right side of it's prospective side. The ring will be sort of a 3 sided because of the curve into the side but it will stop at the taper. The curve above my finger (think bar below gallery) will also have pave but will stop when it meets the shank. There will be diamond on the bars holding the diamonds but not much of a gallery (for wedding band).. the pave will be 3/4 of the way around the shank (1 side). I should have CAD's in the next couple of weeks and hopefully it is all going to come together nicely!

i love asschers! If i had done a traditional ering, that's what i would have picked for sure - the only problem is, you have to get a higher carat weight for the diamond to face up the same size as a brilliant cut. That first picture you posted was gorgeous!!!

I just drooled all over my keyboard. Totally worth it, though, because, WOW! That baby is GORGEOUS!

What an awesome take on my favorite cut!

Your upgrade is so lovely, as well. I can't wait for the hand shots when you get that pretty baby! :)

In person this diamond totally rocked!! Now the picture posted was just one that I found that had some of the same features and I remembered the brand did start with the letter T.. The diamond he showed me was 2 carats and he said it was like $40,000, I could not believe I was holding that thing just like nothing.. crazy! I held it up to my diamond which is cut shallow, and it faced up the same size. Bonus of a shallow cut diamond!! Really I was loving that diamond because, there was now way not to notice it. It sparkled like mad, but everything else was like an asscher...

I don't want to confuse anyone, I am still working on my design and the pictures posted were of other rings. I will be back with more as soon as I have CAD's and all..

Very pretty!
