Search for Rubies

I found a ruby based in Taiwan who I like a lot! I got in touch with her about a month ago and she just showed me a ruby ring today that looks quite promising. It was raining and grey/overcast today so I'll return when it's sunny, but here are some videos I took in indoor and overcast outdoor lighting:

Feel like I am making progress looool

:shock:I want to see it in the sunshine! How do you feel about pricing on this one?

If you are comfortable with the price, I would get that in a heartbeat - assuming it glows in the sun. The ring is elegant and that color looks to be almost pure RED!

This one is spectacular.

The weather forecast says it's going to be rainy/overcast for a few days so I'm waiting on the sun to come out! And yes the color is a very pure red irl, very saturated

This one is spectacular.

It's the best that I've seen in person so far!!

I'm also searching for rubies. What is this group's opinion on this stone?

If you’ll start your own thread (to keep it separate from OP/Lilith’s thread focusing on her own search -

I’m sure plenty of experienced people will chime in on yours with their opinions. And I will too!

The color is incredibly bright and red red in real life! Very glowy and it never blacks out

Glad you found you gem, enjoy it!

It’s amazing! So, it’s a keeper? :)

wow! So lovely! After all this please give us lore details. Where did you find it and what was the price compare to others you had considered? What made your pull the trigger for this and not any of the other spectacular stones you posted about over the years?

We need closure!

:kiss2:Yes it is! It's internally lit, that one:-o

Gah, the fluorescence in that last photo!! So happy that you found your ruby love and can’t wait to hear the story!

I found it in an antique shop in Osaka, Japan!!! I looked so the shop beforehand on Google maps, thought it looked interesting and just wanted to look around....and then I saw this ruby ring! The color was BRIGHT even in a dimly lit shop so I thought it had potential! I asked the shop keeper to take it out, chatted a bit with her about the specs and price and decided it was worth it for me. The fluorescence and color is very special to me- both red and very very bright. A bit silky but without feather inclusions/surface reaching inclusions. The ring is from the 1940s, 18K white and yellow gold with diamonds and a center ruby under 1ct. The seller said it was unheated and Burmese, but it also wasn't certed- but the price was USD2000 so honestly I couldn't resist lol. And so ends my ruby hunt! This ticks all my boxes- antique, bright GLOWING red and very well priced imo.

Thank you, the glow is insane!!!

Wow that sounds like it was meant to be! And considering the other options were 70k I can see why you snapped it up!!!

The price was so good!!! Even if it is heated, the color makes it so worth it!

It’s delicious and I love her setting too!! Will you keep it intact? Congratulations on a fabulous find!
