I have a nice handmade gold pendant that I'd hate to lose. Can anyone recommend a nice alternative to the one I currently have and where to source? A gold cable would be the obvious choice, or would it?
It came on the 18 inch blackened cable chain with an optional jump ring at 16 inches. It's a memento mori piece that I wear daily to remind of the important things in life.
When it came, it had the usual solder points at the clasp. I've lost necklaces before as the solder broke, so being a beader gal, I cut the chain and wired on the clasp and jump ring using 26 gauge wire. It's a bit of a risk as chains are also designed to give at that point should the necklace catch on something.
Anyone, I'd appreciate feedback as my trip to the mall today to look at chains was frustrating. The lady was a bossy know it all, who wasn't supporting her arguments with logic. Long story.
She wanted me to take a very fine chain with a very tiny clasp. Didn't look secure a t a l l.
Ideas would be appreciated!
