I'm so glad you sold that spinel, it was gorgeous and a great deal!! I kept having to talk myself down bc I just don't need any more pink spinels, lol...

Congrats to the new owner :)

And good luck with your sales, those green garnets are beautiful and very difficult to find in such nice color, esp. over the 2 ct mark, getting harder and harder...I know you know that Minous, but just pointing it out for fellow collectors to consider :)

Thank you, Katharath! I wish it wasn't so about the prices of tsavorites and Merelani Mints. I mean, it can't be that the source just completely dried up, right? That just doesn't make sense. :nono:

Well I know that I've always heard that green garnets over 2 cts were considered "rare" - of course it's all a matter of perspective, since green garnets are rare period, at least as compared to many other types of gems. But the 2 ct mark the rarity factor increases.

Now recently I seem to hear that it's become increasingly harder to find the rough for larger green garnets. I don't know how true this is though. I might ask Yvonne what she knows, her close connection with the biggest supplier of these gems in the US should be able to give some insight. I know that Yvonne has offered less tsavorites and mints in general, especially matched pairs or rounds. When I got to see Prima's stock at JCK I was shocked at how there were literally almost no rounds at all in trays and trays of green garnets, but Yvonne was very matter of fact and said, this is how it is now. Rounds were always scarce anyway, but it was crazy to me when I was on my hunt for a round 2 ct mint; I had to buy gems on the second hand market or old stock to get what I wanted. Prima had no rounds at all in the size and color I wanted. (They had incredibly stunning much bigger gems though, lol!!. It's not that there's "nothing" out there; but there was nothing that fit my specifications, and that was surprising to me bc in the past, they would have had what I wanted).

Ok sorry for the long story, lol...

One thing though. I saw in a thread in CS today that you mentioned maybe selling a mahenge? I'm always on the lookout for another one, so I might be interested. Contact me on FB if you like! No rush, but I wanted to put this out there :). I'm not looking for anything specific. Just a mahenge that calls to me, and that I can afford, lol. I'm always willing to add a mahenge to my collection if I love it - so I thought I'd let you know ;)

You don't miss a thing, do you, Miss Katharath?!

Not where mahenges are concerned, lol!! I have an internal radar for them ;)

Finally getting around to adding some photos of the Namibian Fanta Spessartite. This is old material. I know I shouldn't be, but I'm still on the fence about selling this one, so contact me via LT or DB listing.

Details: 1.25 ct precision cut 6mm round Spessartite. Eye clean. Namibian material, which is long gone and which was the material that started the Fanta craze. Anyway, here are some photos in different lighting situations - in its case, on an overcast grey day, on my hand, and responding to sunlight directly on it (my personal favorite :)) )

And here are the other stones still available:

Minou, you have some beautiful gems. I can't believe the two trillions haven't been snapped up yet- tsavorites and mint garnets only seem to be going up in price these day.

Sending you PS dust for a quick sale! ::)

Sorry about that.

So I sent you a message via FB. It likely has gone into your "other" folder, so look for it there. :))

I guess its time for me to list it, sigh. I'm just sooooo lazy! I've had a few emails, but no one who seemed super interested. I will list it, I promise!

Hi Minous, I can't find the listing for the spews. Can you give the link please?
