Hi there. I’ve been lurking in this forum for a while and have learned so much. This is my first post here. I’ve decided to have a ring made by Victor Canera (I never would have known about hand-forged jewelry if it hadn’t been for PS!). Having never been through this process, I am a little nervous…

I purchased the diamond already and am having it shipped (insured) directly to VC from a diamond dealer that is local to me. I have no formal agreement with VC yet, other than a quote from them and an email back from me agreeing to the quote. The sales manager then asked me to send them the diamond. This is the part that makes me nervous… My diamond is going to show up at VC in a couple of days – I don’t know if the company that shipped out the diamond will have my name included in the package. If not, how will VC know it’s my diamond? Everything I’ve read here is that VC is amazing to work with, high integrity, etc. and I don’t question that. I’m just slightly uneasy about sending off something so valuable and it showing up without any identifying paperwork and without an already-in-place agreement with VC. For those of you who have done this – do you receive a ‘receipt’ from VC stating that they are in possession of your diamond or is this just something I need to trust? I know many people have had diamonds sent to jewelers without incident.

Thank you – any advice or similar stories you can share are very much appreciated!! :)

BTW – about the ring… I’m having the Victor Canera Anne Marie ring made, which I only know about thanks to the poster on PS who is the original Anne that the ring is named after! Reading her posts and seeing her gorgeous photos helped to solidify the ring I wanted. Thank you for the inspiration!

Well I am sure you told VC the carat weight of the diamond, he will put in on the scale and .........wala!
Best of luck and we look forward to seeing hand shots when finished.

Im not sure but I would send VC a quick email stating the company that is sending your diamond and give them a rough estimate of when it is suppose to arrive and the details of your diamond. Im certain everything will be just fine. Great choice choosing victor and the anne marie is a gorgeous choice...look forward to seeing pics when its completed.

If you send Victor an email with information aboug the vendor and the stone you will be fine. And I am sure he will cofirm when he has received your stone. He is very flexible to work with. If you have anything to add to the design, just let him know.

I am about to work with Victor for the second time. His customer service and craftmanship are excellent. The anne marie is a gorgeous design!

Hi, email Victor the info of the stone specs and when it is being sent to him. Ask the vendor to give you some sort of tracking (it should be being shipped insured by the vendor to him)... If you are nervous about it ask Victor to email you when the stone arrives. He is a lovely guy I am sure he will do everything to make you feel comfortable with his service and his work is stunning.

Thanks everyone for your help! Great advice - I am going to email to VC the details about the arrival of the diamond. Hearing you all say it's really going to be fine does help :) I'm excited about this process - it will be hard to be patient while I wait for my ring to be made, but I am sure it will be soooo worth it! Will post pics when it's done. Thank you again!

You could also give VC the tracking number from the jeweler to match up when it comes in
