I sometimes find that the same people who think something is ''too much'' online...have a very different feeling when it''s sparkling in their face!!!
2.gif
But even if not, in the end, it doesn''t really matter, does it?
1.gif
Thanks FireGoddess!

You are not lying! Who can resist the splendour of sparkaliciousness?
30.gif
3.gif
If they can, good on them, however, I can''t and I''m alright with that.
28.gif

I love your avatar, btw!

I think it''s lovely. I really do.

Go for it hon. You have to love it. That''s ALL that''s important!
36.gif
Yay Gypsy!
36.gif

Thanks so much for the encouragement!!

I don''t think I can help but love it now ... All you gals are so great that I can barely contain my excitement!!!

I''ve been so all over the place lately with my new found boundless excitement my bf is going to be like
20.gif
Poor guy. I''m sure he can''t wait until this is all over.

Believe me, many of our SO''s can empathize with your BF. I think you''ve made a lovely and unique choice that is blingtastic. I can''t wait for the handshots!

I have tried on several Simon G. rings lately, and I can assure you, they are not hideous! Those pictures are blown up so large to show detail, that some might think the rings are too much, but in real life, they are beautiful, delicate, and finely detailed!!!

I think you made a spectacular choice, and I LOVE the yellow gold detail. You are getting your "later" ring sooner! Your co-workers will some day be looking to upgrade from their solitaires once they see what is out there.

Don''t take people''s opinions too seriously. Your emotions are running high because it is such an important decision, but at least you are getting a good quality diamond and setting. My first diamond was SMALL (.36 ct.), an I1 quality, and I put it into a baguette setting. When they sized the ring down to a 5, the baguettes were never right, always loose. So, I traded the setting for a sapphire ring. I didn''t even wear my diamond for a long time, and now, after 15 years of marriage, I am finally getting a 1 carat.

You are starting out with the ring that I have waited 15 years to get! You are very blessed. Personally, I think you have great taste!!!!!

Your setting is beautiful - and it is just that...YOUR setting!!!

I think it is very unique in a good way. Don''t worry about your coworkers...this is about you : )

Seeker of Diamonds,

Thanks for sharing your story with me. I am touched. I genuinely appreciate your authenticity and genuine interest.
4.gif
Congratulations on your upgrade! How exciting ... I do hope that you too will do us the honor of posting pics, huh, huh?
36.gif

I certainly hope that I did not come across as whining at all as that wasn''t my intention. I am more than grateful for what will, hopefully, be bestowed upon me. ... besides that, whining annoys me.
20.gif
25.gif

I know that I am fortunate to get anything or nothing at all, actually, if my bf would like to spend the rest of his life with me enjoying the trials and tribulations of wedded bliss and not so bliss.
1.gif
together! In many ways, I feel as though this is a guilty pleasure b/c I haven''t actually "earned" it yet by putting some years in first. Oh well! I''ll get over it~!!
3.gif

I am so glad that you LOVE the setting and that you are eagerly awaiting pics.
36.gif
I will be more than happy to oblige.

Thanks Carrie! Not worried about them at all, actually ... anymore. I think it was a phase. Hormones - Bad timing - Bad day ... I''m not sure anymore. I feel so embarrassed now since everyone has been so incredibly supportive regardless of whether or not they like it or not. I just feel as though, in the scheme of things, it is not life or death. If I like it, great - fantastic, really ... If I don''t, it''s not the end of the world. If others don''t appreciate the beauty I see in it, big whoopdy doo, I hope they like what they call their own and that''s all they have to worry about. I''m sure I will love it ... If we don''t, we''ll just keep at it - everything happens for a reason, right?
9.gif

Now ... to more important things ... Do you have any more pics of the lovely in your avatar pic?
30.gif

You don''t sound whiney at all. You are going through the natural process of second guessing yourself on a choice you felt strongly about at first. Your first impression is always right. When you get your ring on your hand, you will wonder why you fretted about it.

As for me, my long-awaited 1 carat is actually a 1.05 ct. Jubilee cut, H/SI1 that I am going to have custom set by Single Stone in L.A. And yes, I will be posting photos so everyone can see. I am very excited!

Very nice!

Yay!
36.gif
Good size .. I like to call that size a carat with a little bling extra!
9.gif

Jubiliee cut? I've never heard of that ... Can you tell me more about that particular cut or what drew you to it?

A custom setting sounds like a ton of fun. I bet it has been a great, if somewhat challenging process to have it made. I think that will be one of my projects down the road ... to either have something custom made for my bf or someone else special to me

I can't wait to see your pictures!
30.gif

A Jubilee is a cut-corner square cut for light performance. I had never heard of them either until I started shopping at www.goodoldgold.com. I fell in love when one became available, and I knew it was "The One"!!!!

There is also a website for the cut--www.jubileecut.com, I think. Tells you more about them.

Wowwee! That is a great looking cut!

Never heard of it and I''m glad I hadn''t, it would have just even further confused my process by making me contemplate another option.

Now I really, really can''t wait to see it ...

i agree with the other posters sparky - if you love it that is all that matters. and if you cried when you saw it then dang it you must really really love it.

also, pictures look very different than when you actually see it in person and even when you see it in person it will look different on your finger than another person''s. even my ring looked totally different on me once it had been sized to fit me.

just pick something you love and remember how much you love it and prepare yourself with this love cause there will always be some people who won''t like it or will be non-plus
Just repeating this and what so many others have said. I too have seen Simon G''s in person, and they do look much better in person than in pictures. Also, I''ve seen one that was 2-tone (w/ white and rose golds), and the effect is VERY subtle - even folks who think they don''t like 2-tone probably would think your ring is pretty IRL.

Thanks so much for the encouragement and for response! ... You found the word I was looking for to describe the filigree work. It is subtle.
2.gif
It doesn''t look nearly as "yellow" in person. It was quite pretty.

I have seen this Simon G and many others in person and I love the 2 tone as well. The pinks & rose gold can be so pretty. Sounds foul but looks really nice in real life. There was another one I saw, completely different, but with the pink. It was spectacular looking.
3.gif
36.gif
Too bad we can only get one at a time, huh?
31.gif

Everyone used to think that my original engagement ring & band set was a Simon G. It wasn''t - we designed it ourselves - but I took that as a great compliment! I think Simon G is distinctive & beautiful.

Sparkalicious,

If YOU love it.. then it''s for you.

Remember, it will be on YOUR hand as a symbol of your love...and will be there for YOU to look at day after day. Get what YOU love.

I for instance, love smaller, understated stones around .50ct. Mine will be a .53ct WF ACA... I love it and it''s not even set yet. I know others will say, ''Oh, what a cute ring you have there.'' ''OH, you get the BIGGER diamond after the wedding right??'' But I don''t care... it''s what I want.

I bet it will be beautiful.. wear it in love and good health.

CHEERS!
9.gif
Thanks BNBD!
35.gif

I appreciate the response. I know that you are right because it absolutely makes no sense to wear what someone else likes. They will only see it occassionally and you have to live with it. I wasn''t actually trying to solicit feedback b/c I was considering not getting something because other people didn''t like it, I think there was a subtle difference ... maybe not
1.gif
it was more of an emotional plea seeking affirmation that there are beautiful components that make up this ring and it is a lovely piece of jewellery.

I am confident that, if it comes to me as lovely as it was when I saw it for the first time, it will be all good!
36.gif

Good for you for knowing what you want too!
21.gif
I''m sure you know the feeling I am talking about when people make their veiley sheilded disparaging comments. Its not as though this will make you love your ring/diamond less, however, there is a tinge of disappointment that everyone in the whole wide world (completely irrational
16.gif
and that''s ok
2.gif
) doesn''t think it is a marvellous as you do. It''s something that, I imagine, is easily gotten over once you look at that beauty on your hand and see no significance in their comments because you still love it!

Congratulations on your WF ACA! No matter what size, that is going to be a beauty of a diamond! I can''t wait to see it. Cheers to you as well

Wear that stunner with some swagger!

This reminded me of something that drives me absolutely crazy. My mom told me I should paint my house in neutral colors so that I could re-sell it easier. Well - I''m not designing & living in a house with other people''s taste in mind! How would that make any sense? It''s only paint right? These "phantom" many years down the road new buyers can change the paint when/if I ever sell my house to them. In the meantime - my walls are greens, blues, pumpkin, and even a wine color (not all in one place! LOL!). My point is that YOU are the one who has to live with it and love it. Why even consider what other people like or don''t like? Let them take care of themselves.

Just my 2 cents...

That doesn''t mean I don''t understand the wish to get PS feedback. I love getting feedback on my own rings. I consider this crowd to be better educated about jewelry in general & so I think a thumbs up from PS really means something.

Sparka,

When the ring designer sent me pics of the setting during the design process for my ring they were large and I was concerned that my ring would look like a giant ''renaissiance fest'' ring. I was so worried. In real life, all of those details and the swoopy prongs were tiny and intricate--MUCH prettier. I am sure the same phenomenon will apply in your case. If you cried when you saw it because you love it--it''s the one.
Kellyfish!! I was waiting for your response ... I was praying and hoping that someone would be able to relate to my dilemma in this way.

You''ve hit the nail on the head and captured exactly what the problem is. I am obsessing and worrying about it because I am making up all kinds of things in my head based on the picture and another example of the setting I saw at a different jewelry store that just didn''t compare to what I saw the first time and I don''t want it to come to me looking that a honking man''s ring or to look so diminutive that the bling on it barely matters. It''s driving me mad!
37.gif

Thanks for the encouragement and for the real life example!
36.gif
I''m really happy for you that you got everything that you wanted! I''ll update you and show some pics, if I can figure it out, when I get it

THANK YOU!

I was thinking this same thing the other day looking at pictures of my asscher setting online & the pictures I had taken myself as well. The prongs look thick & clunky in the online photos & the angle of the photo makes the whole setting look more chunky. There''s no way it would have caught my eye based on that picture! But in real life I think it is very well balanced and nothing clunky or chunky about it at all. Just goes to show you that you really have to see something with your own eyes in order to really see how it looks.

Lady Amythyst! You''re kidding me. That Asscher and Crisscut band is a thing of beauty!! What a combo! Last week, I think I looked at it every day to drool. So incredibly beautiful. I don''t know what you are looking at but I don''t see it. It must be something about the discerning eye of the owner that makes us super critical of our jewelry. Other people just tend to appreciate it for what it is. Go figure!
33.gif

It''s sort of like when you are in love or really like someone, their faults or misgivings tend to fade into the background ... at least for a while anyways ... if its not the right someone or, in our example, jewelry.

Thanks for your response and please do keep sharing pics of your collection with us so that I can continue to have greatness to which to aspire!

Your mom''s thoughts made me laugh ... Sounds like such a mom. You should inconvenience yourself and live in surroundings that you are not truly comfortable in because it will make it easier on you in the long run ...
20.gif
I guess there is something to that argument, however, I just can''t do it either. I would rather paint the house as I saw fit, while I was living it and pay the money to get it changed back to something more neutral if and when I was trying to sell it if that is what was necessary. Too cute!
21.gif

With regards to PS feedback ... yes ... The PS seal of approval is like eating lunch with the cool kids.
