How easy is it for a diamond to come lose from the prongs? Is it normal? We''re worried because my fiance is a nurse and works with her hands alot and the diamond has come loose and is moving around. I just want to make sure this can actually happen normally before I cry that I have a poorly set stone.

There is no correct answer out there... If the ring gets lucky to get in trouble sooner rather than later, well, it happens. There are better ways to see if the setting is to blame or good old bad luck: post a pic! Otherwise, perhaps your wife could ask a couple of colleagues wether they had simmilar problems with loose prongs... I know that some jobs are worse than others for workers' jewelry. Otherwise, since you will have the setting put back together again, maybe the jeweler could tell wether this is 'wear and tear' or just 'tear' (an accident)
