My tiny vayrynanite! Small, included and uncertified - and I have no clue what I'm going to do with it - but dang I love the color!

That is such a great color! Where is the stone mined from?

Supposedly Afghanistan. I have no proof or papers, just the word of the seller!

IMG_3382.jpgMy teeny tiny grandidierite. I consider this a place holder for the gem quality one that I will own someday! It's fun to own something so rare, even though its not great quality.

Apart from my haüyne and grandidierite (pictures in other forums), I like my electric blue apatite the most. It looks like the lighter version of haüyne.20210325_204353.jpg20210325_203925.jpg

Better pics of sphalerite. D33486CB-3820-46FC-A3FE-1907042662B9.jpegUnfortunately, I cannot set it so I put it in some putty sitting atop an empty gem mount.

Wow, it will look fabulous when set!

Can never set it! Way too soft! Thank you though!

That's right. Even if it's set it'll be for display only. LoL

I’ve seen them in earrings, but what’s the point if I can’t stare at it while it’s on me?! If they were hard gems, they’d give Diamond a run for the money.

Yup, that's exactly right.

A faceted 2.02ct rhodochrosite from the Sweet Home Mine in Colorado.

Another very soft stone, but DW is going to try to set this little guy in a ring with a diamond halo to provide some protection.

Saturday night only ring, and with a strict limit on wine consumption!!! :lol-2:

Nothing super rare. My rhodochrosite from The Gem Trader:

And my embarrassingly small (3.5 x 2.6) hauyne:

I like pinks and blues...

My little benitoite collection (conveniently located in one place.) I have a few more small rounds I ordered. No idea what I am going to do with them but OMG the sparkle.

This is to DIE for!!! where did you get it? I would love something like this!

Love it!! Another high RI stone.

Yes, I believe it has a RI of 2.02. This stone has fabulous light return, it doesn't quite sparkle like a diamond but it's not far off. The zincite material was collected in the late 1970s from the chimney of a Polish zinc smelter that was being repaired. It seems that material of this quality has not been found again. Here's a LINK to the interesting story of how this particular material was discovered.

Our 8.01ct oval has very similar dimensions to DW's OEC so the plan is to set it in a very similar ring so she can wear one on each hand. :)Unfortunately zincite is very soft with a hardness of only 4.0 so the ring will get a small diamond halo to provide some protection, and be reserved for very special occasions.

I've been admiring your fabulous sphalerite, I believe it has an RI equal to diamond? I've put one of those on DW's bucket list!

Thank you. It’s hard to believe that zincite was a byproduct in those factories, and it’s facetable material

The stones and the setting are from Yvonne at Cecile Raley Designs on Etsy. Her engraver is amazing as well. She has rounds at the moment and just sold a pear, sigh.

I have to admit I'm obsessed (and have a problem) family shot.

Oh my, this is so pretty! The stones in the necklace's setting reminds me of sparkly champagne bubbles :kiss2:
