Jennifer, cute pictures of the dogs. So what were you doing with the bunny ears?

Hmmmmm, maybe we're getting a slight glimpse of how all those fabulous diamond bands came about.
Where can I get me a pair of those suckers?

Jennifer- The dogs are adorable- the cram colored one looks as if she/he is thinking (in the first pic)- maybe if I leave quietly she won't notice......

Reena-I have to say that with every thread I read I always do the quick scan from avatar to message so that I can see who is 'talking'. However, when I am scanning now and hit a message from you, I snort out loud with laghter, and then snort again, and then read your message. Then look back at generic lawyer with velters head and laugh out loud.

Thank you for providing the unexpected bits of laughter!

P.S.- the lawyer velter is now my desktop photo- and got quite the laugh today when my screen was projected large for presentations! Hope you don't mind.....

awww, sucks, thanks! it's actually just that my job is so dry, i need an outlet for my creative energy!

that is TOO funny about lawyer velter's picture--he is sweeping the nation!!!

You're a smart group...let's just say I said "Happy Easter" to Mr. Jennifer5973 in a special way one year...

jenwill--isn't that true? The facial expressions on those dogs are a riot...poor Freddy (the black one) is hardly distinguishable though--it's like that in all our pictures unless there is super bright light....he is alway the "black fuzzball" next to Elmo (cream one).

Thanks-I am glad you guys enjoyed these!

Twinkletoes. Are you still out there? What's happened in the meantime? Did you confront the evil one, did she change her mind or has she gone ahead and bought YOUR e-ring?

Reading this thread, I really felt for you. It was a really horrible thing to do to anyone, let alone to someone who's supposed to be your best friend.
My SIL kinda spoiled my wedding photos. I'd asked both my neices to be flower girls. One was her daughter. All she had to do was buy the girl a pair of white sandals to wear with her bridesmaid's dress (which I'd paid for) - not a special expensive pair, just white. She said she couldn't find a pair (despite the fact that we were married in August at the height of the summer), but really she just couldn't be bothered and my poor neice turned up wearing a pair of clumpy brown leather school shoes. My Mother was furious. They'd travelled from miles away and we only found out on the morning of the wedding, so it was too late to do anything about it. I felt as sorry for my neice as I did for myself. They really spoiled the photographs as, being a bridesmaid, she was in most of them and all you saw was these huge ugly brown shoes. In the excitement of the day, I forgot about it, but when we got the photos, you couldn't ignore them. I have never forgiven my SIL for that and I've been married for 28 years!

But, it was typical of the catty thoughtless things she's done and said to people over the years. She doesn't speak to us at all these days - thank heavens!

My take on this is that your friend is trying to fill a void within herself and admires you so deeply that as John and others have said, she almost wants to be you. These signs are not hard to figure out once they begin to appear, so for something as important as an ering, or anything else as meaningful, I wouldn't even bother sharing my ideas with her in the future.

But the damage is done. How can you move on?

There are literally thousands of options for ring styles. I did not receive a wedding set until nearly 13 years after I was married. The original style I thought I wanted (for years) wasn't even close to what I got. Perhaps you can find a way to move past the original style you dreamed of; like put your energies and resources into the center stone? Modify the setting (as someone had suggested)? Do something completely different that what she is thinking you will do. She deserves a huge curveball on this one.

OTOH, I truly believe that when one door closes, another one opens.

The friendship is another topic. I think that it is written in the stars where that will go through the years. From what you have shared, I am confident that your marriage may well outlast the friendship with her, so encourage you to take the high road and move on.

All the best to you Twinkletoes. I hope you find that ring of your dreams. Please do share when you do. You can trust us.
