I have recently starting reading PS this morning. I have even had to look up in the FAQ's the acronyms/abbreviations to understand some of the lingo.

I was wondering when looking in stores should I stay away from diamonds (currently looking for .5-1tcw 3 diamond ring) already placed in settings?

Not sure if you placed your question in the right forum, but I can give you a few words to help on the matter.

Most rings on Pricescope are shopped in two parts, the diamond and the setting. However, depending on where you shop, some vendors offer complete rings that include the center diamond. This can be perfectly OK, especially with classic styles. The center diamond should still generally be certified by a reputable laboratory and can be easily verified by a professional even while set. There is nothing wrong with buying the complete ring as a single piece of jewelry, but as in most cases in business, you have to trust your source and do your research before making your purchase.

I wasn't sure exactly which forum to post in to be honest.
I will have to do my homework on which dealers are reputable or not to shop at before making the commitment. I am still learning about what I want and what is going to be worth the money to me and my gf before making the purchase.
Thank you for your input, it is greatly appreciated.
