Show Me Jewellery That Gives You Comfort

IMG_20190127_100122225.jpg I posted my grandmother's costume bracelet, and I thought most of the other pieces must have gotten broken, but today I found where I had tucked them away! I'm definitely going to start wearing some of her pins for the holidays this year. I apologize, don't know why earring, other photos upside down IMG_20190127_100129835.jpg IMG_20190127_100214929.jpg

IMG_20181206_105925829.jpg IMG_20181206_110039531.jpg My grandmother had an amazing collection of costume jewelry. This is a cuff bracelet of hers I happen to be wearing today (missing it's safety chain and a rhinestone :() Other pieces are a ring from other grandmother, sterling pieces I've had a long time including a band style ring with "waves", and a rubellite tourmaline ring ex got me after we moved in together.
This is gorgeous!

These are all so amazing! Thanks for sharing

This is mine. The watch belonged to my mum and was her 10th anniversary present in 1979. The watch is now 40 years and has become mine with her passing last year. It'll be one year soon and I feel particularly sentimental about this watch today.

@DiaDiva, the watch is beautiful. I am so sorry about the loss of your mother and sending lots of comfort and support to you. (((Hugs)))

Big hugs to you. The first of everything when we lose someone are always the hardest things to get through. The watch is beautiful & i’m glad you can feel close to her by wearing it.

Beautiful - I have my grandmothers costume jewelry and it makes me extremely happy.

What a fabulous idea & it looks so pretty!

I have several beautiful RHR's, from my Great Aunts pearl & OEC cluster from around 1900, to my Madagascar hot pink sapphire in a simple platinum solitaire, a gift from my husband when our eldest daughter was born. But I mostly reach for my Grandmother's original engagement ring from 1937. It is an 18ct yellow gold ring, platinum topped & set with tiny, but firey, OEC's. It is very much not blingy. When I am stressed or upset, or just generally in a flap, I need this ring on my finger. I inherited it when I was 16, almost (but not quite!) 30 years ago. We have been through thick & thin, travelled the world & had some really, really long conversations.

So show me, do you have a piece of jewellery that you find yourself reaching for in times of stress or when you need comfort? Please share your stories IMG_20181130_194921.jpgIMG_20181130_194914.jpg
Very beautiful.

I sleep the best with the weight of this ring on my finger ha haC10D9177-1FA0-40C6-9F7E-4AEF4C3B2F4D.png

Very beautiful.

Thank you! This ring is so plain compared to most things I have, but it’s just so twinkly, smooth & easy to wear. But more than that, I know it literally didn’t leave my Grandmothers hand - it was wedged firm & stayed on until the day she died. It had lots of adventures & long conversations with her too, I expect, and I find that to be an amazing bond between us. I have to admit though, it was a right state when I got it. The underside was black & all the little holes on the back of the diamonds were filled with Lord knows what! It cleaned up beautifully though & my mother was so surprised when I showed her. I remember her saying “Wow! I had forgotten there were little diamonds in there!” The shank is now extremely thin & it feels too sharp to wear alone, but I still wear it more often than not.

@minimountains ! Glad to see you back!

I hear you about the weight of rings: it is a reminder of good things...
