I am a lurker on this site, but wanted to add to this thread.
The setting has been redone about twenty years ago, but...

This ring was originally given to my grandmother during WWII on her wedding day by her MIL. My grandmother gave it to my mom on her wedding day. Ten years ago it was given to me.

I don''t know any of the specs of the ring. It is set in rose gold, common in eastern Europe and I can see an occlusion in the stone. Since this is the only heirloom that was not lost in the war I really treasure it.

Wow, what a great post. I love all the older style rings, please more, I will try to get some pics of my grandmother''s ring that she left me. It is a dinner ring she used to wear all the time. I am so proud to have it.

Thank you ladies.
The history behind some of these pieces is amazing, isn''t it?

Can anyone here with antique stones or who enjoys looking at them please take a look here and comment on it? I''d really appreciate any opinion on it even if you don''t know the answer or feel qualified enough to post your view. Thanks.

Ever since I first came to PS, I have been checking this oogling the rings in this thread. I wanted to add my new e-ring and revive the thread in case there are any other antique cut owners out there that haven''t found their way to this thread and posted their antique pieces.

So, here it is: 2.3 ct I SI1 OEC in modern Michael Bondanza setting. Size 5.5. The rest of the specs and more photos are in this thread: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/our-new-old-2-3-carat-oec-e-ring.49501/

Here''s a stone I forgot to post here: an ''old cut'' marquise (on the clasp of a bracelet, circa 1910....

You''re not crazy...you''re obviously a free thinker with terrific taste!

I think a lot of the ones posted here are part of antique pieces, but I bet most dealers can find them if you ask.

Two online sources that specialize in old cut stones are silverstone.com and faycullen....but I''m sure there are others.

This is my OEC in a Verragio setting. It''s 2.3 ct, Clarity VS1, I Color.

I guess not everyone would put their antique diamond in a contemporary setting but it''s simplicity appealed to me. I love a mix of the old and new!

(hope this attachment works!)

Pandora that stone is beautiful! Look at those big facets....

Thank You! This picture doesn''t really do it justice though (still figuring out my digital camera!). I love looking at everyone else''s old cuts - they''re all so beautiful!

LOL, Pandora...we're stone twins!!! (And mine's in a modern setting too!) I'd love to see more pics of yours! What size is your ring? It looks sooooo great on your hand!

I noticed that! Exact size and color! Yours is *beautiful* and I was so happy to see someone else with a modern setting (although I love the antique settings too - they''re just not for me) I looove your setting
30.gif
. Damn, everytime I come on this board I see a new setting I want! My husband gave me this for our 10th anniversary so it''s gonna take him a few years to recover before I hit him up for another one! Your pictures really show the beautiful fire these rings have. I bet you get a lot of compliments. I''ll have to clean my ring and take some more that do it justice.

My ring is a size 5.25 but I''ve lost some weight (not in that pic as you can see from my stubby fingers!) and it''s really too big. I''m afraid I''m going to wash my hands one day and have it slide down the drain. I''d like to resize it but it''s platinum and my weight is always going up and down.

Are you newly engaged? I think your mans a keeper - he has great taste! Congrats!

Just received this a couple weeks ago. Don''t know about it''s history though. Dated early 1900''s. I love it!

I hope this ring counts.... it doesn't by any means have even a some what big stone at only about .15ct,,, but this was my moms very first wedding set that was given to her over 45 years ago. It was my Dad's aunts ,,, and she had wore it for about 20 to 30 year before that.... so it's really old,,,, but it's still beautiful to me.

This is one I bought from a member of Diamondtalk.

Here are mine :)
I''m sorry if the photos aren''t that great but I''m still using kind of an old digital camera.
This one is my engagement ring. It''s platinum, from the art deco period, old European cut and the center stone in .65

The other one is an heirloom given to me by my step grandmother. It''s a transitional cut and the center stone is about .20 and I''ve discovered it glows purple under black light.

The two of them.

I love all these old cut rings and settings rings by the way.
Reader I love those rose cut stones. I want to add something like that to my collection one of these days.

The person I bought it from found it for a dollar at a yard sale...I hope I can locate that missing stone!

Thank you, and your rings are lovely, I wish I could see your diamond glow...
