I've ben really digging on the grayish (I know, I know...) stones lately, paticularly the Montana sapphires on gemfix. To me, the "ideal color" for a Montana sapphire probably ought to be considered somewhat gray/teal blue in tone. That's just who they are...

Anyway, I've also been pretty into yellow (especially high carat), rose, and green gold. Not so much into platinum or white gold.

Even though I don't have a particular stone in mind (and I know, with gold color, it's all about the individual stone), I was curious about color combinations. Anyone got a stone with significant gray understones in shades of gold other than white?

Hi Velouria, I have a greyish-toned aquamarine ring that is set in a yellow gold setting. While it's not the ideal color it does have some great fire to it. I don't mind the combination though I think I'm more partial to aquas in white gold.

My prasiolite is set in a two-tone ring (18k green gold bezel and accents, silver split shank). I love it and have posted this picture all over PS!

I put my grayish blue star into high carat gold. The bezel is 22k, and the body of the mounting is 18k.

Here's my milky aquamarine in 20k gold.
