My wonderful in-laws-to-be surprised me with them in March

. They were bought in-store in Palo Alto, but I know they were on the website sometime around then as I'd seen them just a few days before, and went in to try them on.

I am loving the diamond studs I''ve seeing in this thread. Please help. I am in search of some diamond stud martini style earrings in platinum. These will be my first. What size should I get since these will be my first? Are .50ct each be too much? Also, I think my price range is 1500.

Thanks in advance!

If you look through this thread you'll see the various sizes on people which may help you decide. I've seen 1 ctw on this thread that look huge and some that look just right depends on the person's ear lobe size.

Your money probably won't buy quite 1 ctw if you're looking at ideal cut stones, but in ideal cut stones you should be able to drop to a lower colour and clarity without noticing. The stones will also be on your ears which people don't typical grab like they do your hand so perfection isn't necessary. In looking at a couple of vendors, if you go I/J colour, and SI1/2 clarity you should be able to get ideal cut stones around .40-.45 carat each with a bit of money left over for settings of your choice.

ETA: If you start a post in Rocky Talk with your budget and wants someone will help you choose earrings.

If your budget is around $1500, you''re best bet is to look for stones around .40 each. Once you hit the .50 mark, there is a price jump.

Mine are .41 each (.82 ctw) and are perfect for daily wear. My lobes are larger and I''d be willing to go up to .75 each, except I don''t have the funds for that.

My earrings were over $1500, but I also went up in color (F SI1s) and picked WF ACAs. For your budget, you should be able to find a great pair of I/J colored set in wg.
