I absolutely LOVE it!!

Actually, I haven't taken possession yet. My friend who went to Japan helped me buy it from VCA Isetan. She will bring it to me next time she comes to SG.

We're twinsies!! Yay!! In all the excitement, I actually forgot to check how hardy blue agate is. How often do you wear yours? And do you have to baby it?

My newly acquired agate bracelet - beautifully deep blue :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2:

It's really gorgeous, Phoenix!!! Makes me very tempted to get one! I love lapis, but this one is a more realistic price for me, plus the fact the lapis is so rare!

Agate is in the chalcedony family, and it is a hardness of around 7, same as carnelian and onyx! So it's one of the stones less likely to get scratched up if one takes care of it!

I have been wanting this blue bracelet for a looooong time. I had to stop looking at pictures of it to keep myself in control and you had to go and ruin it!

I hope you get one too, DS. Price is much more sensible and realistic than lapis, plus it is more readily available too. I see a lot of positives.

So glad to hear that it is hardy. Bracelets are more susceptible to wear and tear, so this is great news! Thank you, DS.

@diamondseeker2006 - I see that at one time you had the sweet alhambra bracelet in rose gold and you now have the vintage alhambra in yellow gold. What made you change your mind about the rose gold? I spoke with VCA today and the rep told me that the rose gold is very subtle. What are your thoughts? I'm in the early stages of research so that any future purchases are well thought out. Thank you Q

Hey, Queenie! The VCA solid rose gold motifs were very coppery. 14k rose gold can be a nice pink, but the 18k that VCA makes is really a deep copper. It just didn't look good on my skin, because my skin has pink undertone so it blended in. I think the solid rose gold looks best on dark skin or very fair skin. I do not feel this way about their rose gold Alhambra with the stones, because the just the edges and chains are rose gold. I also like the rose gold with diamonds! Lighting is low in that first picture, but maybe you can tell what I mean. Yellow gold in the last picture. I like white gold on me the most. My next pieces likely will be mother of pearl or onyx in white gold.

Thank you @diamondseeker2006, I value your input. I'll probably go with the white gold as I tend to like it more even though my skin has more olive undertones. Still researching and thinking! I must say, this thread is quite dangerous.!!

Just my 2 cents: I think if you have olive undertones, all metals would look gorgeous on you, but particularly YG and PG. I find that when I have a tan, YG/PG really stands out - very striking!

Thank you @Phoenix - I value your input as you're the VCA specialist! I'm glad that I am taking the time to research and think about this as I want to make the right decision(s).

Speaking of VCA, did you guys see this watch in person? It is a magical piece and I am thinking to give it to my wife for our 25th wedding anniversary. I want to find a reseller.

You’re going to have an extremely difficult time (pun not intended) finding pieces from this collection on the secondary market. VCA isn’t renown for timepieces amongst watch enthusiasts, and Poetic Complications pricing is astronomical - the combination does not lend itself to ubiquity in the resale market like the more common jewellery lines.

I have actually tried this on myself and while I absolutely love it, I have to second what @yssie said. And it is more a beautiful piece of jewellery than a serious watch (serious = what a watch collector would buy).

Having said all that, if time is not an issue (no pun intended here either), you may want to look at Christie's and Sotheby's. I've seen VCA watches being auctioned on there. But this particular model, I have never seen in auctions in the ten years or so I've been following. You never know though...you might get lucky.

@Queenie60 I like pieces in all three metals, really! I know white metals look best on me, but I'd like to have a couple of pieces in yg and the rose gold, too. I love the pink (rose) gold with the gray mother of pearl like Phoenix's Magic pendant and there are a couple of pieces in regular stock. I need something else to go with my yg bracelet. Plus I want the blue agate in yg if I can find a color as good as Phoenix's! Maybe I should make friends with her friend! I can't wait to see what you choose!

@Andy Tan Love the onyx Alhambra earrings! They are indeed a great pair to pass down to daughters! That watch is a work of art, but for the price even second hand, there are some major VCA pieces I'd much rather have when you're talking about close to $300,000 even if it were possible to find second hand. So no surprises in expensive jewelry, okay??? My husband would be in such major trouble if he ever bought me something at even a tenth of that amount without my input! Set your budget, tell her, and then take her to VCA and let her pick out a piece or two. That would be the best anniversary ever!

@diamondseeker2006 , :lol:

And wise words re the watch.

Not sure if anyone has noticed but I was just looking at the vca site and there’s been a big increase in prices... shockingly big.

I don't think so. Look in the box in the upper right corner and make sure it says USA for location (assuming you meant US prices). Sometimes it comes open with the wrong country, such as Canada, which makes the prices appear higher.

Can i see everyone's Guilloche bracelets and its scratches. Does it look very scratched after daily wear

A quick sneak peek of my latest acquisition!

@m-2-b - beautiful bracelet. And love the white gold.

Such a gorgeous piece, @m-2-b !!! :kiss2: I asked this in your thread, but please also post a VCA family picture here, too!
