Show off your antique pieces!

I don’t remember this one! It’s beautiful!

Thank you! I bought it and realized that rings this style don’t really work with my short fingers so decided to consign it. I’m taking the fact that it didn’t sell as a sign it’s meant to be back with me. This ring came from a wealthy woman’s collection, she sells jewelry from time to time and I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

I don’t think many of my rings are old enough to be antique but these are the ones that probably come the closest.

This is actually on consignment but I’m going to request it back since it hasn’t sold. I knew it was special the moment I saw it.

The daisy ring probably makes the cut, I think it might have been a conversion because I haven’t seen another daisy like this with two airlines.

This one is definitely old, that sapphire is what got me.

I love them all, Yada!

is now a good time to ask ...
at what age does one become an antique? (i mean an object not a person)
same for vintage ?
and retro ?

I think the common line of thought is:

Antique = 100 years or older
Vintage = 50-100 years old but have also seen 20-100 years old from some sources

Not sure about retro though because I have seen the term to specifically mean jewelry from the the period after Art Deco and before 1950s so late 1930s-1940s in the past but nowadays I’ve seen vendors use the term for jewelry newer than that. It seems like recently some vendors have started using the term for age instead of a specific time period.

My eyes didn’t know where to focus! It went from the emerald to the necklace to the cluster to the band then repeat, repeat, repeat…! Love all of them!

How beautiful every single one of those is, kgizo! One is more lovely than the last. Exquisite!

LOL, thanks!

You have such beautiful pieces!! The halo ring is my favorite! What is the center stone?
It’s a moonstone. Probably a replacement as the shank indicates the ring was well loved, but the moonstone is in excellent condition. Thanks!

Thank you. That’s actually a tourmaline and the only “modern” piece of the group (Yvonne Raley). If only I could afford an emerald like that ;)

Your brooches look amazing! I particularly love the one in the first photo, it pops, can we have a close up?
Thanks for the cameo tip I think I will try that as you are right they do tip forward easily.
Incidentally I saw a man the other day with a large diamond/sapphire dragonfly brooch on his lapel, it looked absolutely gorgeous!
What other jewellery do you wear?
Sorry it took so long to see this and get back to you. I appreciate that, thank you. I mostly just wear brooches and rings though I have a stickpin or two I put on occasionally, too. That first one is a citrine heart. Here it is.

1930s no heat burma ruby and 1870s no heat ceylon sapphires and OMC. I need to resize the band, it's too big. 20221203_151128.jpg

I love the ruby ring. I’m always nervous about buying a vintage or antique ruby piece because so many are treated or glass filled. Was yours certified already when you found it?

Yep, certified.

Here's my favorite antique/vintage find — I bought it from an online estate sale in Minnesota. Some of the diamonds are fluorescent, which I love! It has no markings.

Gorgeous!!!!

Just received this brooch! It came with its original box :kiss2:

It has a 4.60 mm central old European cut diamond, accented by rose cut diamonds. The OEC is VSI, apart from one small chip on the girdle! Faces up pretty white too in my opinion.

Does anyone have any thoughts to its age or era - was described as "antique brooch" with no particular dating.

The box is worn on the outside, but the silk and velvet are in pretty good condition! Just a little dusty.

I was curious about your gorgeous piece so I tried to research it. This one isn’t the same but it looks similar and the story in this listing is sooooo fun. We need to wear our brooches to the opera apparently!
